Bitumen, widely known as asphalt, is a dense, dark, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Renowned for its extraordinary waterproofing capabilities, it is extensively used in the construction sector. Bituminous membranes are the go-to choice for waterproofing applications on roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and countless other constructions. Predominantly, two main application techniques are employed for bitumen membranes.
One is the Torch-on method, a time-tested approach, and the other is Self-adhesive, offering convenience and ease.
Torch-on bituminous membranes present a versatile and straightforward waterproofing solution adaptable to all weather conditions. When CHENHUA membranes are applied, they form a seamless, watertight barrier, securely bonded to the surface, ensuring lasting protection and reliability.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely used across various building grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. Suitable for both exposed and concealed areas, these versatile membranes excel in flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and beyond.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure that the substrate is immaculately clean, dry, and free from contaminants, prepared to perfection for optimal adhesion.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be thoroughly eliminated.
Blowholes and voids should be fully exposed and meticulously repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply primer before laying the membrane. Clean the substrate meticulously with a dust catcher or blower, then coat it thoroughly with a primer to ensure waterproofing, effective dust consolidation, and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it precisely before starting the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane must be laid in parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent coinciding joints, ensuring a seamless finish.
*The end-to-end overlaps must be alternated, never positioned along a single line to maintain structural integrity.
*Always commence at the lowest slope height, starting with drains, downpipes, or other critical details.
*During torching, apply heat to both the membrane and the substrate simultaneously, focusing on the roll and overlapping areas for perfect adhesion.
*Overlaps must be welded with precision, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, visibly appears along the overlap line for complete waterproofing.
4.Utilize a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring a secure and lasting adhesion.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days to maintain installation integrity.
2. Refrain from working in heavy winds (above grade 5) to ensure safety and quality.
3. Not suitable for construction below 5°C to prevent material brittleness.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protective measures for the laid membrane are essential to prevent damage.
5. All personnel must wear special safety uniforms during installation. Fire control equipment is essential for safety.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in a dry, well-ventilated environment to maintain their quality.
2. Different membrane types must be stored separately to prevent cross-contamination.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date, ensuring long-lasting quality.
4. Membrane rolls should be stored vertically during transportation and shielded from sunlight and rain to prevent damage.
