Bitumen, also known as asphalt, is a dense, black, highly viscous liquid or semi-solid originating from petroleum and is celebrated for its exceptional waterproofing qualities. In the construction world, it reigns supreme for waterproofing applications, ideal for roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and various other constructions. The application techniques for bitumen membranes are primarily twofold.
The first is the Torch-on method, and the second is the Self-adhesive technique.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are an all-weather, adaptable, and user-friendly solution. The CHENHUA membranes create a seamless, watertight barrier that robustly adheres to surfaces once applied.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes find extensive use across diverse building grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing endeavors. Whether for exposed or concealed areas, they suit flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is immaculately clean, dry, and devoid of any contaminants, prepared to perfection.
All dust and friable materials must be painstakingly removed.
Blowholes and voids should be fully exposed and meticulously repaired.
2. Primer:
Prior to membrane application, coat the substrate with a primer after cleaning with a dust catcher or blower. This process ensures enhanced waterproofing, superior dust consolidation, and improved adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it precisely before proceeding with torching or bonding.
*Each membrane should be laid in parallel with a stagger of at least 1 meter, preventing joint alignment.
*End-to-end overlaps should be alternated, never aligned.
*Begin at the lowest slope height, focusing on drains, downpipes, and other details first.
*During torching, apply heat to both the membrane and the substrate simultaneously, especially at the roll and overlap areas.
*Weld overlaps accurately, ensuring a slim trickle of melted mix, about 1 cm wide, appears along the overlap line.
4.Utilize a roller to press the membrane surface firmly, ensuring a solid bond and adhesion.


Attention:
1. Verify the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid operations on rainy or snowy days.
2. Avoid work in strong winds exceeding grade 5.
3. Construction is unsuitable below 5°C.
4. During rain or snow, safeguard the laid membrane with protective measures.
5. Ensure all personnel wear specialized safety uniforms during installation. Fire control equipment is mandatory.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions to maintain quality.
2. Segregate different types of membranes during storage.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage duration is one year from the production date.
4. Store membrane rolls vertically during transport, shielded from sunlight and rain.
