Bitumen, also known as asphalt, stands out as a quintessential material in the construction arena, renowned for its dense, black, and highly viscous properties. Extracted from petroleum, it is celebrated for its unparalleled waterproofing capabilities. Bituminous membranes are deemed indispensable for waterproofing ventures, finding extensive application in roofs, basements, subterranean structures, bridges, and a plethora of other constructions. Generally, there exist two predominant techniques to apply bitumen membranes, each tailored to specific project needs.
The two main methods of application are the Torch-on approach and the Self-adhesive technique.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are a supremely adaptable and effortlessly applied solution, designed to withstand all weather adversities. When CHENHUA membranes are skillfully installed, they create a flawless, watertight seal that adheres firmly to the surface, offering enduring protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely adopted for an array of construction grades, effectively addressing waterproofing and seepage-proofing needs. They are adept for both visible and hidden areas, including but not limited to flat roofs, pitched roofs, subterranean zones, tunnels, bridges, parking structures, reservoirs, and beyond.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
It is imperative that the substrate is scrupulously clean, thoroughly dry, and devoid of any contaminants, prepared to an impeccable standard.
All dust and any loose, friable materials must be meticulously removed to ensure optimal conditions for application.
Blowholes and voids should be fully exposed and subsequently repaired to create a smooth surface.
2. Primer:
Prior to membrane application, a primer must be applied. Clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a comprehensive treatment primer to ensure superior waterproofing, effective dust consolidation, and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Gently unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it with precision before commencing any torching or bonding activities.
*Each membrane should be laid in parallel, with a stagger of at least 1 meter to avoid coinciding joints.
*End-to-end overlaps must be offset, ensuring they do not align along a single line.
*Installation should begin at the lowest slope point, focusing initially on drains, downpipes, or other detailed areas.
*During the torching process, both the membrane and substrate should be heated simultaneously, concentrating on the roll and overlapping areas for maximum bonding.
*Overlaps must be meticulously welded, ensuring a fine line of melted material, roughly 1 cm wide, emerges along the overlap for a secure seal.
4.Employ a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring a robust and durable adhesion.


Attention:
1. Confirm the substrate is dry and pristine. Avoid construction on days with rain or snow.
2. Do not proceed with work in strong winds, particularly those exceeding grade 5.
3. Construction is inadvisable in temperatures below 5°C.
4. Should rain or snow occur during construction, it is crucial to implement protective measures for the membrane already in place.
5. All workers must don special safety uniforms during installation, and fire control equipment is mandatory on-site.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated surroundings to preserve their integrity.
2. Different types of membranes must be stored separately to prevent any cross-contamination.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage duration is one year from the production date, ensuring usability.
4. Membrane rolls should be stored in an upright position during transit and shielded from sunlight and rain to maintain quality.
