Bitumen, often referred to as asphalt, is a sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Renowned for its outstanding waterproofing attributes, it is extensively utilized in construction. Bituminous membranes are ideal for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and various other infrastructures. There are primarily two distinct application methods for bitumen membranes.
The two main methods are Torch-on and Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer an efficient, easy-to-use, and versatile waterproofing solution suitable for all seasons. Once applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes provide a thin, watertight layer that fully bonds to the surface, ensuring enduring protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely utilized across various grades of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are suitable for both exposed and concealed applications, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application Method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and free from contaminants, and properly prepared for application.
Remove all dust and loose, friable materials thoroughly.
Blowholes and voids must be fully exposed and meticulously repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer coat before laying the membrane. Clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a complete treatment primer for waterproofing to consolidate dust and enhance adhesive properties.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and align it properly before torching or bonding.
*Ensure each membrane is laid parallel and staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent overlapping joints from coinciding.
*End-to-end overlaps must be alternated, never aligned along a single continuous line.
*Begin at the lowest slope height and include drains, downpipes, or other details.
*While torching, heat both the membrane and substrate simultaneously, focusing on the roll and overlap areas.
*Weld the overlaps with precision until a subtle trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, becomes visible along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to apply firm pressure on the membrane surface, ensuring it adheres securely.


Attention:
1. The substrate must remain dry and clean. Avoid working during rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Refrain from working in strong winds (above grade 5).
3. Construction is not advisable below temperatures of 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protective measures must be implemented for the already laid membrane.
5. All workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential.


Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, ventilated conditions to maintain quality.
2. Different membrane types should be stored separately to avoid confusion.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be placed vertically and kept protected from sunshine and rainwater.
