Bitumen, often referred to interchangeably with asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous substance derived from petroleum. Its exceptional waterproofing properties have made it an essential component in the construction sector. Bituminous membranes serve as perfect solutions for waterproofing needs in roofs, basements, underground constructions, bridges, and beyond. Primarily, there are two widely practiced application techniques for these membranes.
These techniques include the Torch-on method and the Self-adhesive method.
Torch-on bituminous membranes present a versatile and easy-to-apply solution, adept for any weather condition. Once applied, CHENHUA membranes create a seamless, watertight barrier securely affixed to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are broadly employed across an array of building grades for advanced waterproofing and seepage protection. Suitable for both visible and concealed areas, they are utilized on flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground environments, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is immaculately clean, dry, and devoid of any contaminants, meticulously prepared to perfection.
Remove all dust and friable materials thoroughly.
Expose and repair any blowholes and voids entirely.
2. Primer:
Prior to membrane placement, apply a primer. Clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a comprehensive layer of treatment primer to ensure effective waterproofing, bolstering dust consolidation and adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll and align the torch-on membrane accurately before commencing torching or bonding.
*Each membrane should be laid parallel, with a minimum 1-meter stagger to avoid joint alignment.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, ensuring they do not align in a single row.
*Start from the lowest slope height, beginning with details like drains and downpipes.
*During application, heat both the membrane and substrate simultaneously, concentrating on the roll and overlap regions.
*Precisely weld the overlaps, generating a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, along the overlap.
4.Use a roller to firmly secure the membrane's surface, ensuring steadfast adhesion.


Attention:
1. Confirm that the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid application during rainy or snowy weather.
2. Avoid working in strong winds exceeding grade 5.
3. Unsuitable for construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. Should rain or snow occur during application, ensure protective measures are in place for the membrane.
5. All installation personnel must don special uniforms for safety, with essential fire control equipment on hand.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry and well-ventilated areas.
2. Different types of membranes should be stored separately for optimal conditions.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. Store membrane rolls vertically during transit, shielding them from sunlight and rain.
