Product Introduction
Bitumen, a remarkable substance also known as asphalt, is a sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Its unparalleled waterproofing qualities make it indispensable in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are the ideal solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and a myriad of other infrastructures. For these membranes, there are primarily two application methods, each offering unique benefits.
One method is the Torch-on application, while the other is the Self-adhesive application.
Torch-on bituminous membranes represent an exceptionally effective, straightforward, and versatile solution for waterproofing needs across all seasons. Upon application, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a thin, yet highly effective, watertight barrier that is fully bonded to the surface, ensuring robust protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are renowned for their extensive application across various grades of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. These include areas both exposed and unexposed, such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, and reservoirs.
Application Method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, free of all contaminants, and is properly prepared for optimal performance.
It is crucial to remove all dust and any loose, friable material.
Expose and repair any blow holes and voids to ensure a flawless foundation.
2. Primer Application:
Prior to membrane installation, apply a primer. Clean the substrate of dust using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a treatment primer comprehensively for enhanced dust consolidation and superior adhesive performance.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and meticulously align it before proceeding with torching or bonding.
*Position each membrane in parallel, ensuring they are staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent joint coincidence.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, avoiding alignment along a single line.
*Initiate the process at the lowest point of the slope, incorporating drains, downpipes, or other detailed elements.
*During torching, simultaneously heat the membrane and the substrate, focusing on the roll and overlapping areas.
*Weld overlaps meticulously until a small trickle of melted mixture approximately 1 cm wide appears along the overlap line.
4. Final Touch:Employ a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring it adheres securely and effectively.
Attention:
1. Always ensure the substrate is dry and clean; refrain from work during rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Avoid working in conditions with strong winds exceeding grade 5.
3. Construction is not suitable for temperatures below 5°C.
4. In the event of rain or snow during construction, implement protective measures to safeguard the installed membrane.
5. To ensure safety, workers must don special uniforms and have necessary fire control equipment available during installation.
Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes in a dry, ventilated environment to maintain their quality.
2. Ensure different types of membranes are stored separately to preserve their integrity.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage period is up to one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, membranes should be stored vertically and kept away from direct sunlight and rainwater.

1) What is the popular size for Torch-on bitumen membrane?
-3mm x 1m x 10m, available with either a PE or sand granular top.
-4mm x 1m x 10m, also available with a PE or sand granular top.
2) What's the difference between SBS and APP?
- SBS and APP are essential modifiers that enhance the performance of our premium waterproofing membranes. SBS, which stands for Styrene Butadiene Styrene, significantly boosts cold resistance, making it ideal for colder climates where durability against frost is vital. On the other hand, APP, or Atactic Polypropylene, enhances hot resistance, ensuring reliability in warmer environments. While their appearances may seem similar, these modifications tailor the membranes to specific environmental needs.
3) Is OEM available?
- Yes, indeed! We warmly welcome OEM services at any time, allowing you to customize products to your brand's unique identity.
Please send us your logo, and we will create an exclusive design for you. Alternatively, you can provide your finished design. Once finalized, we print it on PE film and prepare the packaging meticulously before delivering the goods to you.
4) Are you a factory?
- Absolutely! Shandong Chenhua Waterproof Co., Ltd. proudly stands as a professional factory specializing in a wide array of waterproof materials since 1994. Our factory is strategically located in the renowned China Waterproof Town - Taitou. We offer products that cater to diverse waterproofing demands, perfect for both unexposed and exposed substrates.
5) Delivery time
- Typically, an order is completed within a swift 10 days after order confirmation. However, delivery times may vary based on specific requirements and quantities to ensure no compromise on quality.
