Product Introduction
Bitumen, a remarkable material also known as asphalt, is a sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum that boasts exceptional waterproofing qualities. Widely embraced in the construction industry, it is the ideal choice for creating watertight barriers. Bituminous membranes are the superior solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and more. These versatile membranes can be applied using two main methods.
The two primary application techniques for bitumen membranes are Torch-on and Self-Adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes shine as an incredibly effective, easy, and straightforward solution for all seasonal conditions. Once applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a seamless and watertight layer that bonds perfectly to the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively employed across various grades of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. Their versatility makes them suitable for both exposed and concealed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure that the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and devoid of all contaminants. Proper preparation is crucial.
Remove all dust and any loose, friable material thoroughly.
Blow holes and voids should be fully exposed and meticulously repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply a high-quality primer before laying the membrane. Use a dust catcher or blower to clean the substrate, then paint comprehensively with the treatment primer for optimal dust consolidation and superior adhesion.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane and align it precisely before initiating torching or bonding.
*Each membrane must be laid parallel to ensure a seamless application, with staggering of at least 1 meter to prevent coinciding joints.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, ensuring they are never aligned along a single line for optimal performance.
*Begin application at the lowest part of the slope, paying attention to drains, downpipes, or other detailing.
*The torching process should simultaneously heat both the membrane and substrate, focusing on the roll and overlapping areas for a secure bond.
*Ensure overlaps are expertly welded until a small, consistent trickle of the melted mixture, about 1 cm wide, emerges along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller with firm pressure on the membrane surface to guarantee a secure and lasting adhesion.
Attention:
1. The substrate must be dry and clean. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days.
2. Refrain from working in strong winds, especially those above grade 5.
3. Construction should not be carried out at temperatures below 5°C.
4. If it rains or snows during construction, protect the laid membrane immediately to maintain its integrity.
5. All personnel must wear specialized uniforms for safety, and essential fire control equipment should be on hand.
Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions to maintain their quality.
2. Different membrane types should be stored separately to avoid confusion or damage.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be placed vertically and kept away from direct sunlight and rainwater to ensure their longevity.

1) What's the popular size for Torch-on bitumen membrane?
- 3mm x 1m x 10m, available with a PE or sand granular top.
- 4mm x 1m x 10m, also available with a PE or sand granular top.
2) What's the difference between SBS and APP?
- SBS and APP serve as vital modifiers that enhance the performance of waterproof membranes. The SBS modifier is ideal for improving cold resistance, making it perfect for use in chilly environments. On the other hand, the APP modifier enhances the membrane's resistance to heat, ensuring durability in warmer conditions. Although both modifiers may appear similar in physical appearance, they function distinctly and efficiently.
3) Is OEM available?
