Bitumen, famously known in the industry as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Revered for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, bitumen is a cornerstone in construction applications. Bituminous membranes shine in waterproofing tasks, ideal for safeguarding roofs, basements, subterranean structures, bridges, and more. There exist primarily two innovative application methods for bitumen membranes.
One is the Torch-on technique, and the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are an efficient, hassle-free, and versatile solution adaptable to any season. Once installed, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a seamless, impenetrable layer that is fully adhered to the underlying surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membrane is universally applied across a spectrum of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. From flat and slope roofs to underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, and reservoirs, its utility spans both exposed and concealed environments.

Application method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is pristine, dry, devoid of contaminants, and meticulously prepared for application.
Remove all dust and any loose or friable material without exception.
Fully expose and repair any blow holes and voids before proceeding.
2. Primer Application:
Apply a primer coat prior to membrane installation. Clean the substrate using a dust collector or blower, then uniformly apply a treatment primer to consolidate dust and enhance adhesion efficacy.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane, carefully aligning it prior to torching or bonding.
*Lay each membrane parallel to one another, ensuring a stagger of at least 1 meter to prevent joint alignment.
*Alternate end-to-end overlaps; never align along a single line.
*Begin application at the lowest slope height, adjacent to drains, downpipes, or other detailing.
*When torching, simultaneously heat the membrane and substrate, focusing on the roll and overlapping sections.
*The overlaps must be meticulously welded until a slight trickle of melted material, approximately 1 cm wide, is visible along the overlap seam.
4.Use a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring robust adhesion.


Attention:
1. The substrate must be dry and immaculate. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days.
2. Do not undertake operations in strong winds (above grade 5).
3. Avoid construction when the temperature is below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protective measures for the laid membrane are imperative.
5. Workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential.


Packing and Shipping Guidelines:
1. Store membranes in a dry, ventilated environment.
2. Separate different membrane types when stacking.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. During transport, store membrane rolls vertically, away from sunlight and rain.

- SBS and APP are specialized modifiers that enhance the performance of waterproof membranes. The SBS modifier is specifically designed to boost the cold resistance of the membranes, making them ideal for use in chilly environments. On the other hand, APP modifiers enhance the hot resistance of these membranes. Visually, both SBS and APP modified membranes may appear similar, yet their performance under varying temperatures sets them apart.
