Bitumen, often referred to as asphalt, is a highly viscous, sticky, black substance derived from petroleum. Celebrated for its exceptional waterproofing abilities, it finds extensive use in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are ideal for waterproofing applications in roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and more. There are primarily two application methods for bitumen membranes.
One method is Torch-on, and the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are a versatile, efficient, and straightforward solution suitable for all seasons. Once applied, CHENHUA's bituminous membranes form a thin, watertight barrier that fully bonds to the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively utilized in various grades of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are suitable for both exposed and unexposed areas such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure that the substrate is meticulously clean, dry, free of contaminants, and properly prepared for optimal adhesion.
All dust and loose, friable material must be thoroughly removed to create a pristine surface for application.
Blow holes and voids should be completely exposed and meticulously repaired to ensure a flawless finish.
2. Primer Application:
Before laying the membrane, apply a primer after cleaning the substrate with a dust catcher or blower. This step consolidates dust and enhances adhesive performance, crucial for effective waterproofing.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and ensure precise alignment before beginning the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane must be laid parallel and staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent joint alignment, thus enhancing structural integrity.
*End-to-end overlaps should be alternated, never aligned in a single line, to ensure maximum durability.
*Begin installation at the lowest slope height, integrating with drains, downpipes, or other structural details.
*During torching, simultaneously heat the membrane and substrate, focusing on the roll and overlapping areas for a seamless bond.
*Overlaps must be meticulously welded until a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, is visible along the overlap line, indicating a secure bond.
4. Final Touch:Use a roller to apply firm pressure across the membrane surface, ensuring it adheres securely and uniformly.


Attention to Details:
1. The substrate must be dry and immaculate. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days to ensure quality application.
2. Refrain from working in environments with heavy winds (above grade 5), which can compromise safety and application precision.
3. Avoid construction in temperatures below 5°C to maintain membrane integrity and performance.
4. In cases of unexpected rain or snow during construction, implement protective measures to safeguard the applied membrane.
5. Workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation, and appropriate fire control equipment should be accessible.


Packing and Shipping Guidelines:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions to preserve their quality and prevent damage.
2. Different membrane types must be stacked separately to maintain organizational efficiency and product integrity.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date, ensuring consistency in performance.
4. During transportation, membranes should be stored vertically and shielded from direct sunlight and rainwater to maintain their condition.
