Bitumen, often referred to as asphalt, is a dense, viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum, known for its remarkable waterproofing properties. This makes it a staple material in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are ideal for waterproofing various structures, including roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and more. Primarily, there are two application techniques for bitumen membranes.
The two primary application methods are Torch-on and Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes provide an efficient and straightforward solution across all seasons. When applied, CHENHUA's bituminous membranes form a thin, watertight layer that adheres seamlessly to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively used across various grades of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are suitable for both exposed and concealed areas, such as flat roofs, slope roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is pristine, dry, and devoid of contaminants, with meticulous preparation.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be completely cleared away.
Blow holes and voids should be thoroughly exposed and subsequently repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply primer before placing the membrane. Remove dust from the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a comprehensive coat of treatment primer for enhanced waterproofing, ensuring dust consolidation and superior adhesion.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and align it precisely before torching or bonding.
*Lay each membrane parallel and staggered by no less than 1 meter to prevent joint alignment.
*Ensure end-to-end overlaps are alternated and not aligned in a linear fashion.
*Begin application at the lowest slope height, focusing on drains, downpipes, or other features.
*During torching, heat the membrane and substrate simultaneously, with emphasis on the roll and overlap areas.
*Meticulously weld overlaps until a visible trickle of melted mixture, around 1 cm wide, appears along the overlap line.
4.Employ a roller to firmly press the membrane, ensuring optimal adhesion to the surface.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and spotless. Avoid working in rain or snow.
2. Refrain from working in strong winds (above 5-grade).
3. Not suitable for construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. If it rains or snows during construction, protect the laid membrane diligently.
5. Workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential.


Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated areas.
2. Different membrane types must be stored separately.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. Transport membrane rolls vertically, avoiding exposure to sunlight and rainwater.
