Bitumen, also known as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum, celebrated for its outstanding waterproofing properties. In construction, it is a staple, especially when it comes to ensuring that roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and various other constructions remain impermeable to water. Bituminous membranes stand out as the ideal solution for these waterproofing applications. Predominantly, there are two reliable application techniques for bitumen membranes.
One is the Torch-on method, and the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are a versatile, straightforward solution suitable for all weather conditions. Upon application, CHENHUA membranes seamlessly blend into the surface to form a watertight barrier that is securely bonded, ensuring no gaps for leaks.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively utilized across various building grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. These membranes are versatile, suitable for both exposed and concealed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
The substrate must be meticulously clean, dry, and completely free of contaminants, prepared to perfection for the application process.
All dust, as well as loose and friable materials, need to be thoroughly eradicated to ensure optimal adhesion.
Blowholes and voids should be fully exposed and repaired to ensure a smooth foundation.
2. Primer:
Before placing the membrane, apply primer. The substrate should be cleaned using a dust catcher or blower, followed by a thorough coat of treatment primer to enhance waterproofing, dust consolidation, and adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it precisely before beginning the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane should be laid in parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to avoid coinciding joints for a more robust structure.
*Ensure end-to-end overlaps are alternated, avoiding alignment along a single line to prevent weak points.
*Always start at the lowest slope height, commencing with drains, downpipes, or other intricate details.
*During torching, directly heat both the membrane and the substrate, focusing on the roll and overlapping areas for maximum bond strength.
*Overlapping seams should be welded with precision, producing a thin stream of melted mixture, about 1 cm wide, visible along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring a durable and secure adhesion across all areas.


Attention:
1. It is crucial to ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working in rainy or snowy conditions to maintain quality.
2. Refrain from construction activities during heavy winds (above grade 5) to ensure the safety and effectiveness of application.
3. Not suitable for construction below 5°C, as low temperatures can affect the material's performance.
4. In case of rain or snow during construction, it is critical to employ protective measures for the laid membrane to preserve its integrity.
5. All personnel must wear special uniforms to ensure safety during installation. Furthermore, fire control equipment is essential on-site to prevent any hazards.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions to maintain their quality and longevity.
2. Different membrane types must be stored separately to prevent any adverse reactions or quality issues.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date, provided they are stored properly.
4. Membrane rolls should be stored vertically during transportation and be shielded from direct sunlight and rain to ensure they remain in optimal condition.
