Bitumen, also referred to as asphalt, is a renowned sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Celebrated for its superior waterproofing qualities, bitumen is a staple in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are the ideal choice for waterproofing a variety of structures, including roofs, basements, below-ground edifices, bridges, and more. Predominantly, there are two principal application methods for bitumen membranes.
The two primary application methods are Torch-on and Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes present an efficient and straightforward solution adaptable to any season. Once in place, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a seamless, watertight barrier, firmly bonded to the application surface for superior protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively utilized across a spectrum of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They excel in both exposed and unexposed scenarios, including flat roofs, slope roofs, underground areas, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application Methodology:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and free from all contaminants. Proper preparation is key to effective application.
Thoroughly remove all dust and loose, friable materials to maintain surface integrity.
Fully expose any blow holes and voids, then meticulously repair them.
2. Primer Application:
Prior to membrane placement, apply a primer to fortify adhesion. Begin by removing dust with a dust catcher or blower, then proceed to uniformly apply a treatment primer for enhanced dust consolidation and adhesion.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane and align it precisely before commencing torching or bonding.
*Ensure each membrane is laid parallel and staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent joint alignment.
*Alternate end-to-end overlaps to avoid lining them up along a single axis.
*Initiate installation from the lowest point of the slope, focusing on areas with drains and downpipes.
*Simultaneously heat both the membrane and the substrate, directing attention to the roll and overlapping sections.
*Diligently weld overlaps until a visible trickle of molten mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, emerges along the overlap line.
4. Adherence: Firmly apply a roller to the membrane surface to guarantee robust adhesion.


Attention and Safety Considerations:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working in rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Refrain from working in windy conditions exceeding grade 5.
3. Avoid construction when temperatures are below 5°C.
4. Implement protective measures for the membrane if rain or snow occurs during construction.
5. All personnel must wear specialized protective gear to ensure safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential.


Packing and Shipping Guidelines:
1. Store membranes in a dry and well-ventilated environment.
2. Distinct membrane types must be stored separately to maintain integrity.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is up to one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, position membrane rolls vertically and keep them shielded from sunlight and rain.
