Product Introduction
Bitumen, a petroleum-derived substance, is celebrated for its exceptional waterproofing properties and is commonly known as asphalt. This dense, black, highly viscous liquid or semi-solid makes it the perfect choice for construction projects requiring waterproofing. Bituminous membranes, crafted from bitumen, are the go-to solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, bridges, and a myriad of other structures. Two primary methods of application for these membranes stand out.
The two main techniques are the Torch-on method and the Self-adhesive approach.
Torch-on bituminous membranes, especially those from CHENHUA, offer an adaptable and straightforward solution for various weather conditions. Upon application, these membranes create a seamless, watertight barrier that securely bonds to the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are a preferred choice for diverse building grades, providing unmatched waterproofing and seepage-proofing solutions. Their versatility makes them suitable for both exposed and hidden areas, including flat and sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, and reservoirs, among others.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is pristinely clean, dry, and free of any contaminants, prepared to an impeccable standard.
Completely remove all dust and loose or friable materials.
Blowholes and voids must be fully exposed and thoroughly repaired.
2. Primer:
Before laying the membrane, apply a primer. Use a dust catcher or blower to clean the substrate, then coat it meticulously with a treatment primer, ensuring waterproofing, effective dust consolidation, and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it with precision before initiating the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane must be laid in parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to avoid coinciding joints.
*End-to-end overlaps should be alternated and never positioned along a single line.
*Start at the lowest slope height, beginning with drains, downpipes, or other pertinent details.
*During the torching process, ensure simultaneous heating of both the membrane and the substrate, concentrating on the roll and overlapping areas.
*Overlaps should be welded with precision, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture, around 1 cm wide, appears along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring secure adhesion and optimal performance.
Attention:
1. Confirm that the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working during rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Refrain from working in heavy winds (above grade 5).
3. Not suitable for construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, ensure protective measures are in place for the laid membrane.
5. All personnel must wear designated safety uniforms during the installation process. Fire control equipment is essential for safety.

Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions to maintain quality.
2. Different membrane types must be stored separately to avoid cross-contamination.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date, ensuring optimal performance.
4. During transportation, store membrane rolls vertically and protect them from sunlight and rain.

1) What's the popular size for Torch-on bitumen membrane?
-3mm x 1m x 10m with PE or sand granular top.
-Dimensions: 4mm thickness, 1m width, and 10m length, complete with a choice of a PE or sand granular top finish, tailored to meet your specific waterproofing needs.
2) What's the fundamental difference between SBS and APP?
-SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) and APP (Atactic Polypropylene) modifiers are engineered to elevate the performance of waterproof membranes. SBS modifiers are exceptional for boosting cold resistance, ideal for colder climates. On the other hand, APP modifiers excel in enhancing heat resistance, making them perfect for warmer environments. Although they look similar, their specialized enhancements serve very different purposes.
