Thermoplastic olefin, or TPO, is a prevalent choice for flat roofing due to its exceptional resilience against solar UV radiation. The favored color, white, not only presents a modern aesthetic but also excels in solar reflectivity. TPO roofs boast superior tear resistance and seamlessly welded laps, achieved through the precision of hot air welding. This innovative roofing system marries the enduring durability of rubber with the reliability of hot air welded seams. The tough, tear-resistant, single-ply membrane resists chemical spills, oil, and grease, offering unmatched protection. Additionally, TPO roofing systems are fully recyclable, making them a conscientious choice for environmentally-minded projects. TPO's formulation excludes plastisizers, further enhancing its appeal as a 'green option.' With availability in varying thicknesses and roll widths, TPO membranes are tailored to meet specific requirements.
Choosing a TPO roofing system is a savvy decision for those with flat or low-sloped roofs. It shines with energy efficiency and promises longevity, combining the best attributes of EPDM and PVC systems, yet at a more economical price point. With heat-weldable seams like PVC and the UV and heat resilience akin to EPDM, TPO roofing offers versatile advantages. While originally introduced in the early 1990s, TPO roofing continues to evolve, with research ongoing to enhance the system further and address any potential drawbacks. Its innovations continue to redefine roofing solutions.
TPO, or Thermoplastic Polyolefin, revolutionized roofing since its market debut in 1990, offering an economical and efficient alternative to EPDM and PVC systems. This cutting-edge, single-ply thermoplastic polyolefin membrane is expertly engineered with three distinct layers: a robust TPO polymer base, a polyester-reinforced fabric center known as scrim, and a compounded thermoplastic polyolefin top ply. Each layer contributes to the membrane's superior performance and reliability.
The TPO manufacturing process incorporates various fillers such as fiberglass, talc, carbon fiber, metal oxy, sulfurate, and wollastonite, expertly combined to enhance performance. The industry leverages EPDM and ethylene-propylene rubber as the primary rubbers, which are integral to TPO's manufacture, demonstrating a blend of innovation and traditional materials.
Durability
This roofing system is engineered to withstand the challenges of dirt, mold, and debris. With impressive flexibility, TPO roofs adapt effortlessly as a building or home settles, offering superior resilience to the thermal expansions and contractions that often challenge conventional single-ply systems.
Easy Installation
TPO roofing systems are renowned for their effortless installation process. With lightweight construction and availability in large rolls, TPO roofing simplifies transportation and minimizes the need for extensive welding, providing a cost-effective and user-friendly installation experience.
Energy Efficiency
TPO roofs captivate environmentally-conscious customers with their remarkable energy efficiency and reduced carbon footprint. The white reflective surface not only exceeds EPA Energy Star requirements but also earns accolades from the Cool Roof Rating Council. Available in white, tan, and grey, these surfaces contribute to a cooler home environment while significantly reducing energy costs.
1. Exhibiting excellent mechanical properties with remarkable flexibility, TPO avoids the use of plasticizers.
2. The non-volatile nature of TPO's plasticizers eliminates volatile concerns.
3. In contrast, PVC can suffer from changes over time and temperature, leading to potential performance degradation and other issues.
Longevity
Since their introduction in 2005, TPO roofing systems have presented significant advancements in roofing materials. However, ongoing research is crucial to perfecting the chemical formula for TPO. Despite challenges like membrane cracking or curling seam failures, newer formulations are being attempted. Selecting materials from a reputable company with extensive experience remains essential for ensuring durable, long-lasting roofing solutions.

1) How to choose suitable waterproof membranes?
- For exposed areas such as roofs, we recommend TPO/PVC waterproof membranes. These can be applied using welding or adhesive methods.
- For areas not exposed to the elements, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and similar spaces, we recommend utilizing our high-quality polymer PE combined with non-woven fabric. This versatile material can be seamlessly applied with cement, offering a robust base to which tiles can be adhered effortlessly.
2) Is OEM service available?
- Absolutely, our OEM service is always ready to accommodate your needs.
Please provide us with your logo, and our talented design team will create a custom design for you, or feel free to send us your completed design. We will then print it on
the packaging, which could be round paper, profile paper, or on the exterior of the carton.
3) Are you a factory?
- Yes, indeed. Shandong Chenhua Waterproof Co., Ltd. has been a leading manufacturer of an extensive range of waterproof materials since 1994. Located in China's renowned Waterproof Town of Taitou, our factory specializes in products that cater to the diverse waterproofing needs of both exposed and unexposed surfaces.
4) What is your delivery time?
- Typically, once an order is confirmed, we complete it within 10 days. However, delivery times may vary based on specific requirements and order quantities.
