Bitumen, often known as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Celebrated for its supreme waterproofing capabilities, it is a cornerstone in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes stand as an exceptional solution for waterproofing roofs, subterranean basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and more. There are two principal application methodologies for bitumen membranes.
The two core methods are Torch-on and Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are a versatile, easy-to-apply solution perfect for all seasons. Once expertly applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes become a seamless, watertight barrier, fully bonded to the applied surface, ensuring comprehensive protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes find extensive application across various building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are ideal for both exposed and concealed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and beyond.

Application method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, free from contaminants, and properly prepared for optimal adhesion.
Eliminate all dust and loose, friable material thoroughly.
Identify any blow holes and voids, exposing and repairing them completely.
2. Primer Application:
Apply a primer before laying the membrane to consolidate dust and enhance adhesive properties. Clean the substrate with a dust catcher or blower, then apply a comprehensive treatment primer.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane and align it precisely before commencing torching or bonding.
*Position each membrane parallelly, staggering them by at least 1 meter to prevent coinciding joints.
*End-to-end overlaps should be alternated, never aligned along a singular line, to ensure structural integrity.
*Commence from the lowest slope height, incorporating drains, downpipes, or other intricate details.
*During torching, simultaneously heat the membrane and the substrate, focusing on the roll and overlaps for maximum adhesion.
*Diligently weld overlaps until a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, emerges along the overlap line.
4. Adherence Assurance:Utilize a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring robust adhesion.


Attention to Detail:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and pristine. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days.
2. Construction should be halted in strong winds exceeding 5 grade.
3. Unsuitable for application in temperatures below 5°C.
4. Implement protective measures if rain or snow occurs during installation to safeguard the laid membrane.
5. Workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation, and necessary fire control equipment should be in place.


Packing and Shipping Instructions:
1. Membranes should be stored in dry, well-ventilated conditions to maintain quality.
2. Different membrane types must be segregated during storage.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. Transport membrane rolls vertically, protecting them from sunlight and rainwater.

2) What's the difference between SBS and APP?
- SBS and APP are integral modifiers that enhance the performance of waterproof membranes. The SBS modifier greatly improves cold resistance, making these membranes ideal for use in chilly climates. Conversely, the APP modifier boosts heat resistance, tailoring the membranes for warmer environments. Visually, both appear quite similar.
