Bitumen, also recognized as asphalt, is an adhesive, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Celebrated for its exceptional waterproofing properties, it is extensively employed in construction. Bituminous membranes offer an ideal solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and various other infrastructures. Primarily, there are two distinct methods for applying bitumen membranes.
One method is Torch-on, and the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are a reliable, user-friendly, and straightforward choice for all seasons. Once applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a seamless, watertight layer that adheres firmly to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively utilized in a range of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are suitable for both exposed and unexposed applications, such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground areas, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, and reservoirs, among others.

Application Method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, devoid of contaminants, and properly prepared.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be thoroughly cleared away.
Blowholes and voids should be fully exposed and then repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer before laying the membrane. Use a dust catcher or blower to clean the substrate, then apply a treatment primer for optimal waterproofing, ensuring dust consolidation and enhancing adhesive properties.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and align it correctly before torching or bonding.
*Ensure each membrane is laid parallel and staggered by at least 1m to prevent aligning joints.
*End-to-end overlaps must always be staggered, avoiding a single line arrangement.
*Begin installation from the lowest point of the slope, incorporating drains, downpipes, or other specific details.
*During torching, simultaneously heat both the membrane and the substrate, focusing on the roll and overlaps.
*Overlaps must be meticulously welded until a visible trickle of melted material, about 1 cm wide, emerges along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring a secure adhesion.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days.
2. Do not proceed with work during strong winds (above 5 on the Beaufort scale).
3. Avoid construction when temperatures fall below 5°C.
4. If it rains or snows during construction, protective measures are essential for the laid membrane.
5. Workers should wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is mandatory.


Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions.
2. Different membrane types should be stored separately.
3. Typically, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be positioned vertically. Protect them from sunlight and rain.
