Bitumen, also known as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Due to its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, it is extensively utilized in construction. Bituminous membranes are ideal for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and other architectural elements. There are primarily two distinct application techniques for bitumen membranes.
One technique is Torch-on, and the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes embody an effective, straightforward solution suitable for all seasons. When applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a seamless, watertight shield that fully bonds to the underlying surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membrane is extensively used in a diverse range of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are perfect for both exposed and concealed applications such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application Method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is immaculate, dry, and devoid of any contaminants, prepared meticulously.
Remove all dust and loose, friable materials thoroughly.
Expose all blow holes and voids fully, then repair them accordingly.
2. Primer Application:
Apply a primer coating prior to membrane installation. Clean the substrate's dust using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a comprehensive treatment primer for optimal waterproofing, ensuring dust consolidation and superior adhesion.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and align it accurately before proceeding with torching or bonding.
*Position each membrane parallel to the others, ensuring they are staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent joint alignment.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, never aligning them along a single line.
*Commence at the lowest slope elevation, including areas with drains, downpipes, or other details.
*During torching, ensure the membrane and substrate are heated simultaneously, focusing on the roll and overlap areas.
*Diligently weld the overlaps until a thin trickle of melted mixture, roughly 1 cm wide, appears along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to thoroughly press the membrane surface, guaranteeing a firm, secure bond.


Attention:
1. The substrate must remain dry and clean. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days.
2. Refrain from working in conditions with strong winds (exceeding 5-grade).
3. Construction is unsuitable in temperatures below 5°C.
4. During rain or snow, protective measures must be applied to laid membranes.
5. Workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety, and necessary fire control equipment should be utilized.


Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions.
2. Segregate different membrane types during stacking.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage duration is one year from the production date.
4. During transport, store membrane rolls vertically, ensuring protection from sunlight and rainwater.
