Product Introduction
Bitumen, a substance hailed for its incredible waterproofing abilities, is an essential component in the construction industry. This dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid is derived from petroleum and commonly referred to as asphalt. Bituminous membranes, celebrated for their superior waterproofing traits, are quintessential for safeguarding roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and more. Their application is categorized into two primary techniques, offering a tailored solution for diverse construction needs.
One is the Torch-on method, renowned for its reliability, and the other is the Self-adhesive technique, offering ease and convenience.
Torch-on bituminous membranes stand out as a flexible and easy-to-apply solution, adaptable to all weather conditions. When expertly applied, CHENHUA membranes transform into a seamless, impervious barrier, which is firmly and securely bonded to the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are pivotal in a multitude of waterproofing and seepage-prevention projects, transcending various building grades. These membranes are ideal for both visible and hidden areas, including flat and sloped roofs, subterranean spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking structures, reservoirs, and many more.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and devoid of any contaminants, ready for optimal application.
Every speck of dust and loose materials should be carefully eliminated to facilitate superior adhesion.
Any blowholes and gaps should be revealed and professionally repaired to perfect the surface.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer meticulously before laying the membrane. Clean the surface using a dust catcher or blower, then coat it comprehensively with a treatment primer to boost waterproofing, ensuring effective dust consolidation and superior adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, ensuring precise alignment before commencing the torching or bonding process.
*Lay each membrane in parallel fashion, ensuring a staggered arrangement by at least 1 meter to avert coinciding joints.
*Alternate end-to-end overlaps, avoiding alignment along a singular line for enhanced durability.
*Initiate at the lowest slope height, starting with critical areas like drains and downpipes.
*During torching, apply heat to both the membrane and substrate simultaneously, paying special attention to the roll and its overlapping areas.
*Weld overlaps with precision, ensuring a visible thin trickle of melted material, roughly 1 cm wide, along the overlap line for a strong seal.
4.Employ a roller to exert firm pressure on the membrane surface, securing a robust adhesion for lasting effectiveness.
Attention:
1. Confirm that the substrate is dry and clean. Construction should be avoided on rainy or snowy days.
2. Operations should be halted in the presence of strong winds (above grade 5) for safety and precision.
3. The product is unsuitable for use in temperatures below 5°C to ensure optimal performance.
4. In case of rain or snow during construction, protective measures are crucial for the laid membrane to preserve its integrity.
5. All personnel must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Additionally, fire control equipment is mandatory on-site.
Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated environments to maintain their quality.
2. Different membrane types should be stored separately to prevent any interaction.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage span is one year from the date of manufacture.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored vertically and shielded from direct sunlight and rain to preserve their condition.
