Bitumen, renowned in the industry as asphalt, is a robust, black, and highly sticky liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Praised for its superior waterproofing capabilities, it is a cornerstone of the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are the go-to solution for waterproofing a wide array of structures, including roofs, basements, underground edifices, bridges, and many more. There are two predominant methods for applying these bitumen membranes.
The first is the Torch-on method, complemented by the Self-adhesive technique.
Torch-on bituminous membranes provide a highly adaptable and effortless solution suitable for any weather condition. Once our CHENHUA membranes are installed, they create a seamless, watertight shield that is firmly affixed to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely employed across diverse construction standards for waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. Whether for exposed or concealed sections, they are perfect for flat roofs, sloped roofs, subterranean areas, tunnels, bridges, parking structures, reservoirs, and beyond.

Application Methodology:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is spotlessly clean, thoroughly dry, and completely free from any contaminants, prepared to meet the highest standards.
All dust and loose materials must be meticulously removed.
Blowholes and void spaces should be fully exposed and appropriately repaired.
2. Primer Application:
Precede membrane application with a primer. Cleanse the substrate utilizing a dust catcher or blower, and apply a comprehensive primer coat to ensure optimal waterproofing, cementing dust firmly in place, and enhancing adhesion.
3. Membrane Installation:
*Gently unroll the torch-on membrane and align it with precision before beginning the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane sheet should be installed in parallel, offset by at least one meter to avoid overlapping joints.
*End-to-end overlaps must be staggered, avoiding alignment along a single line.
*Start at the lowest slope, prioritizing areas like drains, downpipes, or similar details.
*During torching, simultaneously heat both the membrane and substrate, with a focus on the roll and overlap areas.
*Accurate welding of overlaps is crucial, ensuring a fine line of melted mixture, roughly 1 cm wide, appears along the joint.
4. Final Pressing:Use a roller to apply firm pressure on the membrane surface, ensuring secure and lasting adhesion.


Important Considerations:
1. The substrate must be dry and clean. Avoid operations in rainy or snowy weather.
2. Cease work during strong winds (above grade 5).
3. Not advisable for construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. Should rain or snow occur during construction, protective measures for the installed membrane are imperative.
5. All workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety, and fire control equipment is a must.


Packaging and Transportation:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated spaces.
2. Separate storage for different membrane types is necessary.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage duration is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored upright and shielded from sunlight and rain.
