Bitumen, widely known as asphalt, is a robust, black, and viscous material derived from petroleum, renowned for its extraordinary waterproofing capabilities. It plays a pivotal role in the construction industry, particularly for waterproofing applications in roofs, basements, underground structures, and bridges, among other structures. Primarily, there are two prevalent methods for the application of bitumen membranes.
One method is Torch-on, while the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a versatile, hassle-free solution across all weather conditions. When CHENHUA membranes are applied, they create a seamless, watertight barrier firmly bonded to the surface, ensuring long-term protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively utilized across various building types for projects requiring waterproofing and seepage-proofing. They are suitable for both visible and hidden areas, including flat or sloped roofs, underground zones, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, and reservoirs, to name a few.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and devoid of any contaminants, ready for the membrane application.
Thoroughly eliminate all dust and loose, friable materials.
Expose and meticulously repair all blowholes and voids.
2. Primer:
Apply primer before membrane placement. Clean the substrate with a dust catcher or blower, then thoroughly coat it with a primer for optimal waterproofing, enhancing dust consolidation and adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it precisely before initiating the torching or bonding process.
*Lay each membrane in parallel, ensuring a stagger of at least 1 meter to avoid overlapping joints.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, ensuring they are never aligned along a single line.
*Begin installation at the lowest slope height, starting with areas like drains or downpipes.
*During torching, simultaneously heat the membrane and substrate, focusing on roll and overlap areas.
*Weld overlaps with precision, ensuring a thin, 1 cm wide trickle of melted mixture appears along the overlap.
4.Utilize a roller to press the membrane surface firmly, ensuring secure adhesion.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean; avoid working during rain or snow.
2. Avoid working in winds stronger than grade 5.
3. Not suitable for construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during installation, protect the laid membrane with appropriate measures.
5. Personnel must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is mandatory.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated areas, away from potential hazards.
2. Store different types of membranes separately to prevent cross-contamination.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage period is one year from the date of production.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored vertically and shielded from sunlight and rain.
