Bitumen-also commonly referred to as asphalt-is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid substance derived from petroleum. It boasts exceptional waterproofing capabilities, making it a celebrated choice in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are the go-to solution for waterproofing endeavors on a myriad of structures including roofs, basements, underground facilities, bridges, and much more. Predominantly, there are two prominent application techniques for these versatile bitumen membranes.
The first is the Torch-on method, and the second is the Self-adhesive approach.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a versatile and user-friendly solution adaptable to all weather conditions. Once applied, CHENHUA membranes create a seamless, watertight barrier that is solidly bonded to the surface, ensuring robust protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are a preferred choice for a wide array of building grades, excelling in waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. Perfectly suited for both exposed and concealed areas, they protect flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and beyond.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and free from any contaminants, prepared to absolute perfection.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be thoroughly removed.
Blowholes and voids should be meticulously exposed and then effectively repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer before placing the membrane. Clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, and thoroughly coat it with a treatment primer to guarantee waterproofing, ensuring efficient dust consolidation and superior adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it with precision before beginning the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane should be laid parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to avoid overlapping joints.
*The end-to-end overlaps must be alternated, ensuring no overlaps occur along a single line.
*Always start from the lowest slope height, addressing drains, downpipes, or other details first.
*During torching, evenly heat both the membrane and the substrate, concentrating on the roll and overlapping areas.
*Overlaps must be meticulously welded, ensuring a slight trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, is visible along the overlap line.
4.Employ a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring a secure and lasting adhesion.


Attention:
1. Confirm that the substrate is completely dry and clean. Avoid working on days with rain or snow.
2. Refrain from working in conditions with strong winds (above grade 5).
3. This method is not suitable for construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. In case of rain or snow during construction, protective measures for the already laid membrane are crucial.
5. All personnel must don special uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is mandatory.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store the membranes in conditions that are dry and well-ventilated.
2. Different types of membranes should be stored separately to maintain quality.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is one year from the date of production.
4. Membrane rolls should be stored vertically during transportation and protected from sunlight and rain to preserve integrity.
