Bitumen, commonly known as asphalt, is a viscous, black, and thick liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Renowned for its exceptional waterproofing qualities, it is extensively employed in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes serve as an ideal solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and more. Primarily, there are two distinguished application methods for bitumen membranes.
One method is Torch-on, while the other is Self-adhesive
Torch-on bituminous membranes present an efficient and straightforward solution for year-round use. Once applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes create a seamless, watertight layer, fully bonded with the substrate ensuring long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively utilized across various building grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are suitable for both exposed and concealed areas such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, free from any contaminants, and adequately prepared for application.
All dust and loose, friable material must be thoroughly cleared away.
Any blow holes and voids should be fully exposed and then meticulously repaired.
2. Primer:
Prior to membrane application, apply a primer to consolidate dust and enhance adhesion. Use a dust catcher or blower to clean the substrate thoroughly before applying the primer.
3. Membrane placement:
*Unroll and correctly align the torch-on membrane before commencing torching or bonding.
*Each membrane roll should be laid parallel, ensuring a minimum stagger of 1m to prevent joint overlap.
*End-to-end overlaps must be alternated, avoiding alignment along a single continuous line.
*Begin installation at the lowest point of the slope, starting near drains, downpipes, or other critical details.
*When torching, simultaneously heat the membrane and substrate, concentrating on the roll and overlap areas.
*Weld overlaps meticulously until a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1cm wide, emerges along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to press firmly on the membrane surface, ensuring robust adhesion to the substrate.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working during rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Refrain from working in strong winds exceeding 5 on the Beaufort scale.
3. Avoid construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. In case of rain or snow during construction, implement adequate protective measures for the installed membrane.
5. Safety is paramount. Workers must don specialized protective uniforms during installation, and fire safety equipment should be readily available.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions to preserve their integrity.
2. Different membrane types must be stored separately to prevent cross-contamination.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is one year from the date of production.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be positioned vertically and protected from direct sunlight and rainwater exposure.
