Product Introduction
Bitumen, often acclaimed as asphalt, is a robust, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid derived from the wonders of petroleum. Celebrated globally for its outstanding waterproofing capabilities, it is an essential material in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are the pinnacle choice for waterproofing applications on roofs, basements, underground edifices, bridges, among other structures. There are primarily two superior techniques for applying bitumen membranes.
These techniques include the Torch-on method and Self-adhesive application.
Torch-on bituminous membranes from CHENHUA offer a versatile and straightforward solution suitable for all weather conditions. Upon application, these membranes establish a seamless, watertight barrier that is securely bonded to any surface, standing resilient against environmental adversities.

The Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely utilized across diverse building grades for potent waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are ideal for both exposed and concealed areas like flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and beyond.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Meticulously ensure that the substrate is clean, dry, and devoid of all contaminants, prepared to absolute perfection.
Eliminate all dust and any loose, friable materials thoroughly.
Blowholes and voids must be entirely exposed and subsequently repaired for optimal surface integrity.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer before laying the membrane. Clean the substrate meticulously with a dust catcher or blower, then coat thoroughly with a treatment primer to assure waterproofing, ensuring effective dust consolidation and impeccable adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Delicately unroll the torch-on membrane and align it with precision before initiating the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane must be laid in parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to avoid coinciding joints.
*The end-to-end overlaps should be alternated, never aligned along a single line, ensuring structural integrity.
*Always start at the lowest slope height, beginning with drains, downpipes, or other detailed structures.
*During the torching process, simultaneously heat both the membrane and the substrate, with particular attention to the roll and overlapping areas.
*Overlaps must be welded with meticulous accuracy, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, is visible along the overlap line for a perfect seal.
4.Utilize a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring a robust and secure adhesion.
Attention:
1. Guarantee that the substrate is dry and immaculate. Avoid working on days with rain or snow.
2. Refrain from working in heavy winds exceeding grade 5.
3. Not appropriate for construction under temperatures below 5°C.
4. Should rain or snow occur during construction, it is vital to take protective measures for the laid membrane.
5. All personnel must wear designated uniforms for safety during installation, with fire control equipment being indispensable.

Packing and shipping:
1. Membranes should be stored in well-ventilated and dry conditions.
2. Different types of membranes must be kept apart to prevent cross-contamination.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage lifespan is one year from the production date.
4. Membrane rolls should be stored vertically during transportation and must be shielded from sunlight and rain for optimal preservation.

1) What's the popular size for Torch-on bitumen membrane?
-3mm x 1m x 10m with a protective PE or sand granular top.
Our premium Durable Modified Bitumen Membrane is available in a robust 4mm x 1m x 10m size with the option of either a sleek PE top or a textured sand granular finish.
2) What's the fundamental difference between SBS and APP?
SBS and APP are advanced modifiers crafted to elevate the performance of waterproof membranes. SBS modifiers are engineered to vastly enhance cold resistance, making these membranes particularly effective in colder climates. Conversely, APP modifiers are tailored to bolster heat resistance, ensuring superb performance in hotter conditions. While SBS and APP membranes may look alike, they stand apart in their unique functionalities and specialized enhancements.
