Bitumen, commonly referred to as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Renowned for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, it is extensively employed in the construction sector. Bituminous membranes serve as an ideal waterproofing solution for roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and a variety of other constructions. Primarily, there are two fundamental application methods for bitumen membranes.
The first method is the Torch-on technique, followed by the Self-adhesive approach.
Torch-on bituminous membranes provide a versatile and straightforward solution applicable in all weather conditions. When CHENHUA membranes are applied, they form an uninterrupted, watertight barrier that bonds securely to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes find extensive use across diverse building grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are suitable for both exposed and concealed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure that the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and devoid of all contaminants, prepared to perfection.
All dust and loose, fragile materials must be meticulously removed.
Blowholes and voids should be entirely exposed and subsequently repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply primer before laying the membrane. Thoroughly clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then coat it meticulously with a treatment primer to guarantee waterproofing, ensuring effective dust consolidation and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane and align it with precision before initiating torching or bonding.
*Each membrane must be laid in parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent coinciding joints.
*The end-to-end overlaps must be alternated, avoiding alignment along a single line.
*Always commence from the lowest slope height, beginning with drains, downpipes, or other critical details.
*During torching, apply heat to both the membrane and the substrate simultaneously, focusing on the roll and overlap areas.
*Ensure overlaps are welded with precision, creating a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press down on the membrane surface, ensuring a secure adhesion.
Attention:
1. Confirm the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working under rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Avoid working in strong winds (above grade 5).
3. Not suitable for construction at temperatures below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protective measures for the laid membrane are essential.
5. All personnel must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential.

Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions.
2. Different membrane types must be stored separately.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. Membrane rolls should be stored vertically during transportation and be shielded from sunlight and rain.
