Bitumen, universally known as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Renowned for its exceptional waterproofing characteristics, it is immensely popular in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are the perfect solution for waterproofing needs across a vast array of applications, including roofs, basements, underground structures, and bridges, among others. Typically, there are two principal techniques for applying bitumen membranes.
The first is the Torch-on method, followed by the Self-adhesive technique.
Torch-on bituminous membranes provide a versatile and efficient waterproofing solution, aptly designed for all weather conditions. Upon application, CHENHUA membranes create a seamless, watertight barrier that is securely bonded to the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely employed across various construction grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are suitable for both exposed and concealed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and free from contaminants, prepared to absolute perfection for optimal results.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be meticulously eradicated to maintain surface integrity.
Any blowholes and voids should be completely exposed and thoroughly repaired for a flawless application.
2. Primer:
Apply primer before membrane installation. Clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then coat it comprehensively with a primer to enhance waterproofing, ensuring robust dust consolidation and improved adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane and align it with precision before beginning the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane must be laid in parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to avoid coinciding joints for optimal performance.
*Ensure end-to-end overlaps are alternated, avoiding placement along a single line for a seamless finish.
*Always initiate at the lowest slope height, addressing drains, downpipes, or other critical details first.
*During torching, apply heat both to the membrane and substrate, concentrating on roll and overlapping areas for secure bonding.
*Overlaps must be welded with precision, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture approximately 1 cm wide emerges along the overlap line, indicating a proper seal.
4.Use a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring a robust and secure adhesion.


Attention:
1. Confirm the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid work on rainy or snowy days to ensure quality.
2. Refrain from conducting operations during heavy winds (above grade 5) to maintain precision and safety.
3. Not advisable for construction below 5°C, as temperature influences performance.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, safeguard the laid membrane with protective measures to preserve integrity.
5. All personnel are required to wear special uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential for protection.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions to maintain quality.
2. Different types of membranes should be stored separately to prevent confusion and damage.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date, ensuring usability.
4. Store membrane rolls vertically during transport and protect them from sunlight and rain to maintain their condition.
