Bitumen, famously known as asphalt, is a sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Celebrated for its exceptional waterproofing attributes, it finds extensive applications in construction. Bituminous membranes are ideal for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and more. There are primarily two methods to apply bitumen membranes.
The two main methods are Torch-on and Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a highly effective, easy-to-use solution suitable for all seasons. Once applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes provide a thin, yet robust watertight layer fully bonded to the surface, ensuring lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively used across various grades of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects, whether for exposed or concealed areas, such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is meticulously clean, dry, devoid of contaminants, and thoroughly prepared.
All dust and loose friable material must be completely removed.
Blow holes and voids should be fully exposed and properly repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply primer before laying down the membrane. Clean the substrate with a dust catcher or blower, then apply a comprehensive treatment primer for waterproofing to consolidate dust and enhance adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it accurately before torching or bonding.
*Each membrane must be placed parallel and staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent coinciding joints.
*End-to-end overlaps must be alternated, not aligned in a single line.
*Begin from the lowest slope height and include drains, downpipes, or other details.
*Torching should simultaneously heat the membrane and substrate, focusing on the roll and overlaps.
*Overlaps must be meticulously welded until a 1cm wide trickle of melted material appears along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring a strong bond.


Attention:
1. The substrate must be dry and clean. Avoid working in rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Do not work in high winds (above Force 5).
3. Unsuitable for use below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protect the laid membrane accordingly.
5. Workers must wear specialized safety uniforms during installation, and fire control equipment is essential.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, ventilated conditions.
2. Different membrane types should be stacked separately.
3. Standard storage duration is one year from the production date.
4. Transport membrane rolls vertically, keeping them away from direct sunlight and rain.

-SBS and APP are essential modifiers that enhance the performance of waterproof membranes. The SBS modifier significantly boosts cold resistance, making it the ideal choice for frigid environments. Conversely, the APP modifier elevates hot resistance, perfectly suited for warmer conditions. Despite their different functionalities, both modifiers share similar appearances.
