Bitumen, commonly known as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid that originates from petroleum. Renowned for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, bitumen is extensively employed in the construction sector. Bituminous membranes are the go-to choice for waterproofing applications, proving indispensable on roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and a multitude of other constructions. There are primarily two main application techniques for these robust bitumen membranes.
One is the versatile Torch-on method, while the other is the convenient Self-adhesive method.
Torch-on bituminous membranes present a versatile and user-friendly solution suitable for all weather conditions. Once CHENHUA membranes are applied, they create a seamless and watertight barrier that adheres securely to the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely utilized across various building grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. Adaptable for both exposed and concealed areas, their applications extend to flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and beyond.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure that the substrate is immaculately clean, dry, and devoid of all contaminants, prepared to absolute perfection.
Completely eradicate all dust and loose, friable materials.
Expose and repair all blowholes and voids thoroughly before proceeding.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer before membrane installation. Clear the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then coat it comprehensively with a treatment primer to ensure waterproofing, securing effective dust consolidation and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*With care, unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it precisely before commencing with the torching or bonding process.
*Lay each membrane in parallel, ensuring a staggered alignment by at least 1 meter to avoid coinciding joints.
*End-to-end overlaps must be alternated, ensuring they never align along a single line.
*Begin at the lowest slope height, prioritizing areas like drains, downpipes, or other crucial details.
*During torching, focus on simultaneously heating both the membrane and the substrate, particularly the roll and overlapping areas.
*Weld overlaps with precision, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture, about 1 cm wide, is visible along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring secure adhesion throughout.
Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate remains dry and clean. Avoid operations during rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Avoid work under strong winds exceeding grade 5.
3. Not recommended for construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. In case of rain or snow during construction, protective measures for the laid membrane must be implemented.
5. All personnel should wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is a necessity.

Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated environments.
2. Different membrane types must be stored separately to prevent mixing.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. Store membrane rolls vertically during transportation, shielding them from sunlight and rain.
