Bitumen, often referred to as asphalt, is a dense, black, and exceptionally viscous fluid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Celebrated for its superior waterproofing properties, bitumen is an indispensable asset in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes excel at providing waterproofing solutions for roofs, basements, subterranean structures, bridges, and various other infrastructures. Primarily, there are two distinctive application methods for bitumen membranes.
The methods are: Torch-on and Self-adhesive
Torch-on bituminous membranes are both efficient and straightforward products suitable for year-round use. After application, CHENHUA bituminous membranes transform into a seamless, watertight sheet fully adhered to the substrate, ensuring lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes find extensive application across diverse building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are ideal for both exposed and concealed areas, such as flat roofs, sloping roofs, underground levels, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Method of Application:
1. Preparing the Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is pristine, dry, devoid of any contaminants, and properly prepped for application.
Eliminate all dust and loose materials that could compromise the bond.
Fully expose and repair any blowholes or voids to ensure a smooth surface.
2. Priming:
Prior to membrane installation, apply a primer. Clear dust using a vacuum or blower, then uniformly coat with a treatment primer to enhance waterproofing, ensuring dust consolidation and optimal adhesion.
3. Placing the Membrane:
*Carefully unroll and align the torch-on membrane before proceeding with torching or bonding.
*Position each membrane parallel, ensuring they are staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent joint alignment.
*End-to-end overlaps should always alternate, avoiding alignment along a single straight line.
*Commence installation from the lowest point of the slope, ensuring alignment with drains, downpipes, or other crucial details.
*During torching, heat both the membrane and substrate simultaneously, focusing on the roll and overlapping sections for optimal adhesion.
*Carefully weld overlaps until a thin bead of melted bitumen, approximately 1 cm wide, appears along the overlap line.
4.Firmly press the membrane surface using a roller to ensure solid adhesion.


Important Considerations:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and spotless. Refrain from working during rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Avoid construction during heavy winds exceeding 5 on the Beaufort scale.
3. Avoid applications when the temperature drops below 5°C.
4. In the event of rain or snow during construction, protective measures for laid membranes are essential.
5. Workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety. Fire control equipment is mandatory.


Packaging and Shipping Guidelines:
1. Store membranes under dry, well-ventilated conditions.
2. Different membrane types should be stored separately to avoid cross-contamination.
3. Typically, the storage period is one year from the date of production.
4. During transportation, store membrane rolls vertically and protect them from sunlight and rainwater.
