Product Introduction
Bitumen, a material often known by its alternative name, asphalt, is a dense and viscous liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. It is celebrated for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, making it an indispensable asset in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are the go-to solution for a wide range of waterproofing needs, including the protection of roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and many other construction projects. There are two predominant methods for applying bitumen membranes, each catering to specific project requirements.
The first method is the Torch-on technique, while the second is the Self-adhesive approach.
Torch-on bituminous membranes serve as a versatile and reliable solution, performing excellently in diverse weather conditions. When the cutting-edge CHENHUA membranes are applied, they create a seamless, watertight barrier that adheres securely to the surface, offering long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes find extensive application across various building grades, addressing waterproofing and seepage-proofing needs. They are perfectly suited for both exposed and concealed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, expansive parking lots, reservoirs, and more.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is immaculately clean, dry, and devoid of contaminants, prepared with precision.
Thoroughly remove all dust and any loose, friable materials.
Expose and repair any blowholes and voids completely.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer before membrane installation. Clean the substrate meticulously using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a treatment primer thoroughly to ensure superior waterproofing, dust consolidation, and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane and align it with precision before commencing torching or bonding.
*Lay each membrane in parallel, ensuring they are staggered by at least 1 meter to avoid overlapping joints.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, ensuring they do not line up along a single axis.
*Always start at the lowest gradient, beginning with drains, downpipes, or any specific details.
*During the torching process, apply heat to both the membrane and substrate simultaneously, concentrating on the roll and overlap areas.
*Weld overlaps accurately, ensuring a fine bead of melted material, approximately 1 cm wide, manifests along the overlap seam.
4.Utilize a roller to press down the membrane surface firmly, ensuring a steadfast adhesion.
Attention:
1. Confirm the substrate is dry and pristine. Work should not be undertaken on rainy or snowy days.
2. Avoid working in conditions with strong winds (above grade 5).
3. Construction is not suitable when temperatures fall below 5°C.
4. Should rain or snow commence during construction, implement protective measures for the installed membrane.
5. Ensure all workers are equipped with specialized uniforms for safety during installation, with accessible fire control equipment at hand.
Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in an environment that is dry and well-ventilated.
2. Different types of membranes should be stored separately to maintain integrity.
3. Under normal conditions, the recommended storage period is one year from the date of production.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored upright and shielded from exposure to sunlight and rain.

1) What's the popular size for Torch-on bitumen membranes?
- 3mm x 1m x 10m, available with a PE or sand granular top finish.
-This durable membrane measures an impressive 4mm x 1m x 10m, offering versatility with your choice of a sleek PE surface or a classic sand granular top.
2) What's the fundamental difference between SBS and APP?
-SBS and APP are meticulous modifiers crafted to elevate the performance of our waterproof membranes. SBS modifiers are exceptional for enhancing cold resistance, making these membranes a perfect choice for colder climates. On the other hand, APP modifiers are engineered to augment heat resistance. Though these membranes share a similar exterior, their enhancement properties are uniquely tailored to different environmental challenges.
