Bitumen, an esteemed material often synonymous with asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid that originates from petroleum. Renowned for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, it is a staple in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are the ultimate solution for waterproofing projects on diverse surfaces such as roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and various other construction sites. Typically, there are two primary methods for the application of bitumen membranes.
One is the time-tested Torch-on technique, and the other is the Self-adhesive method.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a dynamic and uncomplicated solution suitable for all weather conditions. When CHENHUA membranes are applied, they create a seamless, impenetrable barrier that bonds securely to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely utilized across multiple building grades for comprehensive waterproofing and seepage-proofing endeavors. Perfect for both exposed and concealed areas, these applications include flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking facilities, reservoirs, and beyond.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure that the substrate is scrupulously clean, dry, and devoid of any contaminants, prepared to an impeccable standard.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be completely removed.
Blowholes and voids should be fully exposed and subsequently filled and repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer prior to membrane installation. Clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a comprehensive treatment primer for superior waterproofing, ensuring effective dust consolidation and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Meticulously unroll the torch-on membrane and align it with exact precision before starting the torching or bonding process.
*Lay each membrane in parallel, ensuring they are staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent overlapping joints.
*End-to-end overlaps must be strategically alternated, never aligning along a single line.
*Start from the lowest slope height, beginning with drains, downpipes, or other intricate details.
*During torching, heat the membrane and substrate simultaneously, with keen focus on the roll and overlapping sections.
*Overlaps must be expertly welded, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture, roughly 1 cm wide, manifests along the overlap line.
4.Employ a roller to thoroughly press down the membrane surface, ensuring a firm and secure adhesion.


Attention:
1. Confirm that the substrate is dry and immaculate. Avoid working during rainy or snowy days.
2. Refrain from working in strong winds (above grade 5).
3. Unsuitable for construction under temperatures below 5°C.
4. Should rain or snow during construction, implement protective measures for the installed membrane.
5. All personnel must wear specialized safety uniforms during installation. Fire control equipment is mandatory.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated environments.
2. Different types of membranes must be stored separately.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is one year from the date of manufacture.
4. Membrane rolls should be transported vertically and shielded from sunlight and rain.
