Product Introduction
Bitumen, commonly referred to as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid that originates from petroleum. Known for its outstanding waterproofing attributes, it plays a crucial role in the construction sector. Bituminous membranes are the go-to choice for waterproofing roofs, basements, underground structures, and a myriad of other constructions. Primarily, there are two key methods for applying bitumen membranes.
The first is the Torch-on method, renowned for its effectiveness. The second is the Self-adhesive technique, offering ease and convenience.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are an adaptable and uncomplicated solution suitable for diverse weather conditions. When CHENHUA membranes are utilized, they create a uniform, impermeable barrier that adheres firmly to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely utilized across various building grades for projects demanding superior waterproofing and seepage-proofing. Ideal for both visible and concealed areas, applications include flat roofs, sloped roofs, tunnels, bridges, parking areas, reservoirs, and beyond.
Application method:
1. Substrate preparation:
Meticulously ensure the substrate is pristine, dry, and devoid of all contaminants, preparing it to the highest standards.
Eliminate all dust and any loose, friable materials thoroughly.
Expose and repair any blowholes and voids completely.
2. Primer application:
Prior to membrane placement, apply a primer. Clean the substrate meticulously using a dust catcher or blower, and then apply a treatment primer generously to secure waterproofing, facilitate dust binding, and improve adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane with care and align it precisely before starting the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane should be laid parallel, staggered by a minimum of 1 meter to avoid joint alignment.
*End-to-end overlaps must be alternated, avoiding placement along a single line.
*Begin at the lowest slope height, focusing on drains, downpipes, or other pertinent details first.
*During the torching phase, simultaneously heat both the membrane and the substrate, paying close attention to the roll and overlapping regions.
*Precisely weld overlaps, ensuring a thin line of melted bitumen, approximately 1 cm wide, emerges along the overlap.
4.Employ a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring it adheres securely.
Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and thoroughly clean. Avoid operations on rainy or snowy days to prevent complications.
2. Construction should not proceed in strong winds exceeding grade 5.
3. Not recommended for construction when the temperature is below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during installation, protective measures must be taken for the laid membrane.
5. All personnel must wear designated uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is mandatory and essential.

Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in a dry, well-ventilated environment to maintain quality.
2. Different types of membranes should be stored separately to prevent any mix-ups.
3. Under optimal conditions, the storage period extends up to one year from the production date.
4. Membrane rolls need to be stored vertically during transport and shielded from sunlight and rain.

1) What is the preferred size for Torch-on bitumen membrane?
-The popular size is 3mm x 1m x 10m, featuring a PE or sand granular top.
-This outstanding membrane is available in a convenient 4mm thickness, with dimensions of 1m x 10m, and a choice of PE or sand granular top. It's the perfect fit for your precise waterproofing needs.
2) What's the fundamental difference between SBS and APP?
-SBS and APP are sophisticated modifiers crafted to elevate the performance of waterproof membranes to superior levels. The SBS modifier is your go-to solution for dramatically enhancing cold resistance, making these membranes exceptionally suited for frigid climates. On the other hand, the APP modifier significantly boosts heat resistance, ensuring the membranes perform optimally in high-temperature conditions. Despite their shared outward appearances, these modifiers offer distinctly unique performance enhancements.
