Product Introduction
Bitumen, often recognized as asphalt, stands as a dense, black, and immensely viscous liquid or semi-solid material extracted from petroleum. Renowned across the industry for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, bitumen is a staple in modern construction. Bituminous membranes shine as the quintessential choice for waterproofing tasks, lending their superior waterproof qualities to roofs, basements, subterranean structures, bridges, and an array of other construction projects. Primarily, two prevalent application methods for bitumen membranes exist.
One is the Torch-on method, a reliable and effective solution, and the other is the Self-adhesive technique, offering convenient and mess-free application.
Torch-on bituminous membranes from CHENHUA provide a versatile and uncomplicated answer to waterproofing needs, adaptable to all weather conditions. Once applied, these membranes seamlessly integrate to form a watertight barrier, ensuring a robust bond with the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes showcase their extensive utility across diverse building grades, ideal for both waterproofing and seepage-proofing needs. These membranes excel in various settings, whether exposed or hidden, from flat roofs to sloped terrains, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking areas, and reservoirs.
Application method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure that the substrate is immaculately clean, meticulously dry, and devoid of all forms of contaminants, achieving a state of perfection.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be completely and thoroughly removed.
Expose all blowholes and voids fully, ensuring they are promptly and effectively repaired.
2. Primer Application:
Apply a primer before laying the membrane. First, clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then coat it thoroughly with a treatment primer to guarantee waterproofing, attain effective dust consolidation, and enhance adhesion.
3. Membrane Placement:
*With precision, unroll the torch-on membrane and align it accurately before beginning the torching or bonding process.
*Arrange each membrane in parallel, ensuring they are staggered by a minimum of 1 meter to avoid aligning joints.
*Ensure end-to-end overlaps are alternated, never lining them up in a single sequence.
*Always initiate the process at the lowest slope, starting with drains, downpipes, or similar specifics.
*During the torching, apply heat to both the membrane and the substrate simultaneously, concentrating on the roll and overlap areas.
*Meticulously weld overlaps, ensuring a fine trickle of melted mixture, about 1 cm wide, is visible along the overlap line.
4. Final Adhesion:Deploy a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring a secure and lasting adhesion.
Attention:
1. Always ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Construction should be avoided on rainy or snowy days.
2. Avoid working under heavy wind conditions (above grade 5).
3. Not suitable for construction activities below 5°C.
4. Should rain or snow occur during construction, it's crucial to implement protective measures for the laid membrane.
5. It's imperative that all personnel wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential to have on hand.
Packing and Shipping Guidelines:
1. Store membranes in a dry, well-ventilated environment to maintain their integrity.
2. Different types of membranes should be stored separately to prevent any damage or mix-up.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored vertically and protected from sunlight and rain to avoid degradation.
