Bitumen, often referred to as asphalt, is a supremely versatile, sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Celebrated for its exemplary waterproofing attributes, bitumen finds extensive use in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes stand as an optimal choice for waterproofing a range of structures including roofs, basements, below-ground facilities, bridges, and more. Predominantly, there are two distinct techniques for applying bitumen membranes.
One is Torch-on, another is Self adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are a remarkably effective, user-friendly solution suitable for application in all seasons. Upon application, CHENHUA bituminous membranes transform into a robust, thin layer of waterproofing material, seamlessly bonded to the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membrane is extensively employed across various grades of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. Its versatility makes it ideal for both exposed and concealed areas, such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking areas, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, free from contaminants, and appropriately prepared for optimal adhesion.
All dust and loose, friable material must be meticulously removed to guarantee a clean surface.
Blow holes and voids must be fully exposed and thoroughly repaired to create a smooth, even base.
2. Primer Application:
Apply a primer coating before laying the membrane; use a dust catcher or blower to clear substrate dust. Ensure a complete primer coat for waterproofing to consolidate dust and enhance adhesive effects.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and align it accurately before commencing the torching or bonding process.
*Lay each membrane parallel, ensuring a staggered arrangement by at least 1 meter to prevent aligning joints.
*Alternate end-to-end overlaps, avoiding alignment along a single line for enhanced durability.
*Always initiate installation from the lowest slope height, incorporating drains, downpipes, or other specific details.
*During torching, simultaneously heat the membrane and substrate, focusing on the roll and overlapping sections for a secure bond.
*Expertly weld overlaps until a visible trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, emerges along the overlap line.
4.Employ a roller to apply firm pressure on the membrane surface, ensuring a steadfast and durable adherence.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Refrain from working on rainy or snowy days to maintain material integrity.
2. Avoid working in conditions of strong winds (above 5 grade) to prevent disturbances in the application process.
3. Unsuitable for projects when temperatures are below 5°C, as it may affect membrane adhesion.
4. During rain or snow, implement protective measures for laid membranes to maintain their effectiveness.
5. All workers must wear specialized uniforms to ensure safety during installation and have necessary equipment for fire control measures.


Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes under dry and well-ventilated conditions to preserve quality and functionality.
2. Different types of membranes should be segregated and stored separately to prevent any cross-contamination.
3. Standard storage duration is one year from the production date, under usual conditions.
4. During transportation, store membrane rolls vertically and keep them shielded from direct sunlight and rainwater exposure.
