Product Introduction
Bitumen, often recognized as asphalt, is a dense, black, and extremely viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Celebrated for its exceptional waterproofing properties, bitumen is extensively utilized in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes, in particular, are the ideal solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, substructures, bridges, and a myriad of other structures. There are primarily two distinct methods for applying bitumen membranes.
One method is the Torch-on technique, and the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes represent a highly effective, user-friendly, and versatile product suitable for any season. Upon application, CHENHUA bituminous membranes create a slim, airtight layer that bonds seamlessly to the surface, providing robust protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes find extensive use across various building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects, whether exposed or hidden, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground areas, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.
Application Methodology:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is thoroughly clean, devoid of any contaminants, and properly prepped for optimal results.
Remove all dust and any loose, crumbly material completely.
Thoroughly expose and repair blow holes and voids in the surface.
2. Primer Application:
Apply primer before membrane installation. Clean the substrate thoroughly using a dust catcher or dust blower, then cover entirely with a primer to enhance adhesive strength and consolidate dust.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane, ensuring correct alignment before proceeding with torching or bonding.
*Position each membrane parallel, ensuring a stagger of at least 1m to prevent overlapping joints.
*Stagger all end-to-end overlaps, avoiding a single line arrangement to enhance durability.
*Initiate application from the lowest slope height, focusing on drains, downpipes, or similar features.
*Simultaneously heat the membrane and substrate during torching, concentrating on the roll and overlap areas for maximum effectiveness.
*Exercise meticulous care when welding overlaps, ensuring a visible trickle of molten material approximately 1 cm wide emerges along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to apply vigorous pressure on the membrane surface, ensuring a secure and lasting bond.
Important Considerations:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working in rainy or snowy conditions for optimal results.
2. Do not attempt installation under strong winds (above 5 grade) for safety and precision.
3. Construction should not proceed in temperatures below 5°C.
4. Implement protective measures for the membrane if rain or snow occurs during the construction process to prevent damage.
5. Workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation, and appropriate fire control equipment should be on hand.

Packaging and Shipping Details:
1. Store membranes in a dry, ventilated environment to maintain product integrity.
2. Keep different membrane types separated to prevent cross-contamination.
3. Typically, the storage duration is one year from the production date under normal conditions.
4. During transportation, stand membrane rolls vertically, safeguarding them from sunlight and rainwater exposure.

1) What are the popular size options for Torch-on bitumen membranes?
- 3mm x 1m x 10m with either a PE or sand granular top.
- 4mm x 1m x 10m available with a PE or sand granular top.
2) What's the difference between SBS and APP?
- SBS and APP are specialized modifiers engineered to enhance the performance of waterproof membranes. The SBS modifier significantly boosts the cold resistance, making it ideal for regions with lower temperatures. Conversely, the APP modifier is adept at increasing the heat resistance, perfect for warmer climates. Despite these differences, both types share a similar appearance.
3) Is OEM available?
- Absolutely! Our OEM service is readily available and warmly welcomed at any time to cater to your unique needs.
Please send us your logo, and we will craft a custom design just for you. Alternatively, you can supply your finished design directly. We then print it onto a PE film and ensure meticulous packaging before dispatching the goods to your location.
4) Are you a factory?
- Yes, indeed. Shandong Chenhua Waterproof Co., Ltd is a seasoned professional factory specializing in a diverse range of waterproof materials since 1994. Nestled in the renowned China Waterproof Town - Taitou, we are equipped to meet varied waterproofing demands for both unexposed and exposed substrates with exceptional products.
5) What is the delivery time?
- Typically, once an order is confirmed, it will be completed within 10 days. However, the delivery time may vary based on specific requirements and the order quantity, ensuring customized service for every need.
