Bitumen, commonly referred to as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous material obtained from petroleum. Renowned for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, it finds extensive use within the construction industry. Bituminous membranes are perfectly suited for waterproofing tasks across roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and numerous other constructions. Primarily, there are two prominent techniques for applying bitumen membranes.
One is the Torch-on method, and the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a versatile and simple solution to tackle all weather conditions. When you apply the CHENHUA membranes, they establish a seamless, watertight barrier that adheres securely to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely employed across various construction grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing tasks. Suitable for both visible and hidden areas, these include flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure that the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and free from any contaminants, prepared with the utmost precision.
Eliminate all dust and loose, friable materials thoroughly.
Expose and repair any blowholes and voids completely.
2. Primer:
Before laying the membrane, apply a primer. Clean the substrate with a dust catcher or blower, then thoroughly apply a treatment primer to ensure waterproofing, effective dust consolidation, and improved adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane with care and align it precisely before commencing torching or bonding.
*Each membrane must be laid in parallel, staggered by a minimum of 1 meter to prevent coinciding joints.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, ensuring they never align along a single line.
*Begin at the lowest slope height, starting with drains, downpipes, or other features.
*During torching, heat both the membrane and the substrate simultaneously, focusing on the roll and overlapping sections.
*Ensure overlaps are welded meticulously, producing a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press down on the membrane surface, ensuring secure adhesion.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days.
2. Avoid working when strong winds prevail (above grade 5).
3. Not recommended for construction activities below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protective measures for the laid membrane are crucial.
5. Safety during installation is paramount; all personnel must wear special uniforms and have fire control equipment ready.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated spaces.
2. Keep different membrane types stored separately.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, store membrane rolls vertically and protect them from sunlight and rain.
