Product Introduction
Bitumen, a substance often synonymous with asphalt, is a dense, black material with a highly viscous nature, derived from the richest oils of petroleum. Its extraordinary waterproofing capabilities make it a staple in the construction world. Bituminous membranes are the go-to solution for waterproofing, whether it's for roofs, basements, or intricate underground frameworks, as well as for the robust protection needed for bridges and other vital infrastructures. Among the primary application techniques, two stand out for bitumen membranes.
The first is the Torch-on method, renowned for its effectiveness, and the second is the Self-adhesive approach, known for its convenience.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a dynamic and practical solution adaptable to any weather scenario. Once CHENHUA membranes are expertly applied, they create an uninterrupted, watertight shield that bonds securely to the surface, ensuring lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are prominently utilized across a spectrum of building standards for comprehensive waterproofing and seepage control. Whether for exposed or hidden locations, these membranes cover an array of areas, including flat and sloped roofs, subterranean zones, tunnels, bridges, parking structures, reservoirs, and beyond.
Application Method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and devoid of any contaminants, meticulously prepared to ensure optimal performance.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be comprehensively removed to maintain a pristine surface.
Blowholes and voids should be fully revealed and then expertly repaired to ensure a smooth application.
2. Primer:
Apply primer before membrane installation. Clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a treatment primer thoroughly to enhance waterproofing, ensuring superior dust binding and adhesion.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it with precision before starting the torching or bonding process.
*Lay each membrane in parallel, staggering them by at least 1 meter to avoid joints from overlapping directly.
*End-to-end overlaps must be staggered, ensuring they are not aligned in a single line for optimal integrity.
*Start installation at the lowest slope point, beginning with drains, downpipes, or complex details.
*During the torching process, simultaneously heat both the membrane and the substrate, particularly focusing on the roll and overlap regions.
*Achieve precise welding of overlaps, ensuring a fine trickle of melted mixture approximately 1 cm wide appears along the overlap line, indicating a proper seal.
4.Use a roller to firmly press down the surface of the membrane, ensuring a secure and durable adhesion.
Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid construction activities during rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Construction should not proceed in high winds, specifically beyond grade 5, to ensure safety and quality.
3. Inappropriate for construction conditions below 5°C, as it may affect material performance.
4. In case of rain or snow during construction, protective measures must be implemented for the laid membrane to ensure its integrity.
5. All installation personnel must wear specialized uniforms for safety, and fire control equipment is crucial due to the nature of torch usage.
Packing and Shipping:
1. Membranes should be stored in dry, well-ventilated environments to maintain their quality.
2. Different types of membranes must be stored separately to prevent any cross-contamination or damage.
3. Typically, the storage period under standard conditions is one year from the production date, ensuring longevity.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored vertically and protected from direct sunlight and rain to prevent degradation.

1) What is the popular size for Torch-on bitumen membrane?
-3mm x 1m x 10m, available with either a PE or sand granular top finish for versatile applications.
-4mm x 1m x 10m with your choice of PE or a refined sand granular top.
2) What's the fundamental difference between SBS and APP?
-SBS and APP are expertly crafted modifiers engineered to significantly boost membrane performance. SBS modifiers are exceptional at enhancing cold resistance, making them perfect for frigid environments. On the other hand, APP modifiers are designed to elevate heat resistance, ensuring durability in warmer settings. Although they may look identical, their functional enhancements offer distinct advantages.
