Product Introduction
Bitumen, often referred to as asphalt, is a sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Renowned for its exceptional waterproofing properties, bitumen is extensively employed in the construction sector. Bituminous membranes are the perfect solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and a myriad of other structures. There are two primary methods for applying bitumen membranes.
The first method is Torch-on, and the second is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are an incredibly effective, straightforward, and versatile product suitable for all seasons. Once applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a thin, watertight layer fully bonded to the surface, ensuring unmatched protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes find diverse applications across various grades of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. These membranes are ideal for exposed and unexposed locations such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.
Application method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is meticulously clean, dry, free from all contaminants, and correctly prepared for optimal membrane adhesion.
All dust and loose, friable material must be completely removed to prevent adhesion issues.
Blow holes and voids should be fully exposed and meticulously repaired to ensure a smooth application surface.
2. Primer Application:
Apply a primer before laying the membrane. Clean the dust on the substrate with a dust catcher or blower, then apply a comprehensive treatment primer to enhance waterproofing, achieve dust consolidation, and ensure a high adhesive effect.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and align it accurately before commencing torching or bonding.
*Lay each membrane parallel to one another, ensuring they are staggered by at least 1 meter to avoid overlapping joints.
*End-to-end overlaps must always be alternated, never aligned along a single line, to ensure structural integrity.
*Begin installation at the lowest slope height, focusing on areas with drains, downpipes, or additional details.
*During torching, ensure simultaneous heating of the membrane and substrate, concentrating on the roll and overlapping areas.
*Weld overlaps with precision until a visible trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, appears along the overlap line.
4.Utilize a roller to apply firm pressure to the membrane surface, ensuring a strong and secure bond.
Attention:
1. The substrate must be dry and clean. Avoid working on rainy or snowy days to prevent complications.
2. Refrain from working in conditions of strong wind (above grade 5) to ensure safety and application quality.
3. The membrane is unsuitable for construction in temperatures below 5°C to guarantee proper adhesion.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protective measures must be taken to safeguard the laid membrane.
5. All workers must wear specialized protective uniforms to ensure safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential for handling the torching process safely.
Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry and ventilated conditions to maintain quality.
2. Different membrane types must be stacked separately to prevent damage or mixing.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date, ensuring longevity.
4. Membrane rolls should be stored vertically during transportation and kept away from direct sunlight and rain to preserve their integrity.

1) What are the popular sizes for Torch-on bitumen membranes?
- 3mm x 1m x 10m with a PE or sand granular top for varied applications.
- 4mm x 1m x 10m with a PE or sand granular top for enhanced durability and performance.
2) What's the difference between SBS and APP modifiers?
-SBS and APP are specialized modifiers used to enhance the performance of waterproof membranes. SBS modifiers significantly improve cold resistance, making them ideal for colder environments. Conversely, APP modifiers enhance the hot resistance, perfect for warmer climates. Although their appearances are similar, their applications differ greatly.
3) Is OEM service available?
-Absolutely. Our OEM service is warmly welcomed at any time.
Please provide your logo, and we can design it for you, or feel free to send us your finished design directly. We will then print it on PE film and package it before delivering the goods to you.
