Product Introduction
Bitumen, commonly known as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous substance derived from petroleum, celebrated for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities. Widely employed in the construction industry, bitumen is the material of choice for waterproofing applications across a variety of structures, including roofs, basements, underground installations, and bridges. Among the many methods for employing bitumen membranes, the industry predominantly uses two main techniques.
The primary application methods are the Torch-on method and the Self-adhesive technique.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a versatile and user-friendly solution suited for any weather condition. Once applied, CHENHUA membranes create a seamless, watertight barrier, securely bonding to the surface to ensure lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are a cornerstone in waterproofing and seepage-proofing for diverse construction grades. Their adaptability makes them ideal for both exposed and concealed areas, such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, subterranean spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and beyond.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure that the substrate is impeccably clean, thoroughly dry, and free from any contaminants, setting the stage for flawless application.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be meticulously removed to ensure a clean surface.
Blowholes and voids should be fully exposed, then expertly repaired to guarantee uniformity.
2. Primer:
Before membrane placement, apply a specialized primer. Clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower and thoroughly coat it with a treatment primer. This step ensures superior waterproofing, effective dust consolidation, and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*With precision, unroll the torch-on membrane and align it meticulously before beginning the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane should be laid in parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent joints from coinciding.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, ensuring no alignment along a single line.
*Commence installation at the lowest slope height, beginning with critical areas like drains and downpipes.
*During torching, simultaneously heat both the membrane and substrate, focusing on the roll and overlap areas for a perfect bond.
*Carefully weld overlaps to exacting standards, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, along the overlap line for a flawless seal.
4.Employ a roller to press down the membrane surface firmly, ensuring a robust and enduring adhesion.
Attention:
1. The substrate must be dry and clean. Avoid operations on rainy or snowy days for optimal results.
2. Avoid construction in conditions of high wind (exceeding grade 5).
3. Avoid construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protective measures must be implemented for the laid membrane.
5. Installation staff must wear designated uniforms for safety. Adequate fire control equipment is a necessity.

Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions for optimal product integrity.
2. Store different types of membranes separately to maintain quality and organization.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period extends to one year from the date of manufacture.
4. During transportation, store membrane rolls vertically and protect them from sunlight and rain to ensure maximum longevity.

1) What's the popular size for Torch-on bitumen membrane?
-3mm x 1m x 10m, available with either a PE or sand granular top finish. This size caters to a wide array of construction needs.
-Our premium 4mm x 1m x 10m membrane is available with a sophisticated PE or sand granular top layer, tailored to meet your specific needs.
2) What's the fundamental difference between SBS and APP?
-SBS and APP are innovative modifiers crafted to elevate membrane capabilities. SBS modifiers dramatically enhance cold resistance, making waterproof membranes perfect for frosty climates. In contrast, APP modifiers significantly boost heat tolerance, ensuring superior performance in high-temperature environments. Although they share a similar appearance, their functional advancements cater distinctly to different conditions.
