Bitumen, commonly referred to as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Its remarkable waterproofing properties make it an indispensable resource in construction. Bituminous membranes serve as the premier solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and more. They can be applied using two primary methods.
One method is the dependable Torch-on, and the other is the convenient Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes from CHENHUA are a robust, straightforward, and versatile solution for every season. Once installed, these membranes form a seamless, impermeable barrier that adheres firmly to the surface, ensuring longevity and reliability.

The Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membrane excels in various building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects, suitable for both visible and concealed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking areas, reservoirs, and more.

Application Method:
1. Substrate Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, thoroughly dry, and devoid of any contaminants. Proper preparation is paramount.
All dust and loose particles must be meticulously removed.
Blow holes and voids should be fully exposed and meticulously repaired.
2. Primer Application:
Before membrane application, apply a uniform coat of primer on the substrate after removing dust with a dust catcher or blower, ensuring excellent adhesion and consolidation.
3. Membrane Placement:
*Carefully unroll and align the torch-on membrane before initiating the torching or bonding process.
*Ensure each membrane is laid parallel and staggered at least 1 meter apart to prevent joint alignment.
*Alternate all end-to-end overlaps, avoiding alignment along a single line.
*Commence from the lowest slope height, integrating with drains, downpipes, or other details.
*Torch the rolls, heating both the membrane and substrate simultaneously, focusing on the roll and overlap zones.
*Ensure overlaps are meticulously welded until a slight trickle of molten mix, approximately 1 cm in width, emerges along the overlap line.
4.Employ a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring robust adhesion.


Attention:
1. The substrate must remain dry and pristine. Refrain from working during rain or snowfall.
2. Avoid operations during strong winds exceeding 5 Beaufort scale.
3. Construction is inadvisable below 5°C temperatures.
4. In cases of rain or snow during construction, implement protective measures for the installed membrane.
5. Workers must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential.


Packing and Shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions to maintain quality.
2. Separate storage for different membrane types is crucial.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage life is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, keep membrane rolls vertical, shielded from sunlight and precipitation.

-Both SBS and APP are innovative modifiers used to enhance the performance of waterproof membranes. The SBS modifier is designed to boost cold resistance, making it ideal for use in frigid climates. On the other hand, the APP modifier is engineered to increase heat resistance, perfect for warmer environments. To the untrained eye, their appearances may seem identical, but their purposes are distinctly tailored to different environmental needs.
