Bitumen, often referred to as asphalt, is a dense, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid obtained from petroleum. Renowned for its exceptional waterproofing capabilities, it is widely employed in the construction industry, making it indispensable. Bituminous membranes are perfectly suited for waterproofing applications in roofs, basements, underground structures, bridges, and a multitude of other constructions. There are primarily two application techniques for bitumen membranes that are highly effective.
The first method is the innovative Torch-on application, while the second is the Self-adhesive approach.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a versatile and hassle-free solution suitable for all weather conditions. When CHENHUA membranes are applied, they create a seamless and watertight barrier, firmly bonded to the surface for optimal protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively utilized across diverse building grades for both waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. Applicable to both exposed and concealed areas, these membranes are ideal for flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and much more.
Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is immaculately clean, dry, and free from any contaminants, prepared with meticulous care.
All dust and loose materials must be completely eliminated to achieve the perfect surface.
Blowholes and voids should be fully exposed and appropriately repaired to ensure a flawless application.
2. Primer:
Prior to membrane placement, apply primer. Thoroughly clean the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then apply a primer coat to guarantee effective waterproofing, enhance dust consolidation, and improve adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Gently unroll the torch-on membrane and align it with precision before proceeding with torching or bonding.
*Ensure each membrane is laid in parallel, with a stagger of at least 1 meter to avoid overlapping joints.
*Alternate the end-to-end overlaps, ensuring they do not align in a single line.
*Begin at the lowest slope height, starting with areas around drains, downpipes, or other critical details.
*During the torching process, heat both the membrane and substrate simultaneously, concentrating on the roll and overlapping sections.
*Overlaps should be welded carefully, with a thin trickle of melted material, about 1 cm wide, visible along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press down the membrane surface, ensuring secure and lasting adhesion.
Attention:
1. Verify that the substrate is dry and clean. Avoid working during rainy or snowy days.
2. Avoid construction in heavy winds (above grade 5).
3. Unsuitable for construction at temperatures below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, it is crucial to take protective measures for the laid membrane.
5. All workers must wear designated uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is mandatory.

Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated environments.
2. Different types of membranes should be stored separately to maintain integrity.
3. Under standard conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored vertically and shielded from direct sunlight and rain exposure.
