Bitumen, often fondly referred to as asphalt, is a dense, black, highly viscous liquid or semi-solid material derived from the depths of petroleum. There are primarily two sophisticated application techniques for these membranes.
The Torch-on method and the Self-adhesive technique stand as the primary methods.
Torch-on bituminous membranes offer a versatile and straightforward solution for tackling any weather conditions with ease. Once the CHENHUA membranes are professionally applied, they form an impeccable, seamless, and watertight barrier that bonds securely to the surface for long-lasting protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely acclaimed and extensively used across a myriad of building grades for waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. Their adaptability makes them perfect for both exposed and concealed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and beyond.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is meticulously clean, dry, and free from all contaminants. It should be prepared to perfection to ensure the best results.
All dust and loose, friable materials must be thoroughly eradicated to ensure a pristine surface.
Blowholes and voids should be exposed and carefully repaired to maintain substrate integrity.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer before laying the membrane. Clean the substrate with a dust catcher or blower, then coat it thoroughly with a treatment primer for optimal waterproofing, ensuring effective dust consolidation and enhanced adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it with precision before beginning the torching or bonding process.
*Each membrane should be laid parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent coinciding joints, ensuring a seamless finish.
*End-to-end overlaps must be alternated, never positioned along a single line, for superior structural integrity.
*Always start at the lowest slope height, beginning with drains, downpipes, or other details for optimal drainage.
*During torching, heat both the membrane and substrate simultaneously, with focused attention on the roll and overlapping areas, for a flawless bond.
*Overlaps must be welded with precision, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture, approximately 1 cm wide, appears along the overlap line for an ideal seal.
4.Utilize a roller to firmly press down on the membrane surface, ensuring a secure and lasting adhesion.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Construction should be avoided on rainy or snowy days for optimal results.
2. Avoid working in heavy winds (above grade 5) to ensure safety and precision.
3. Construction is not suitable for conditions below 5°C to maintain material integrity.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protect the laid membrane with appropriate measures to ensure its integrity.
5. All personnel must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential on site.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated areas to preserve their quality.
2. Different types of membranes must be stored separately to prevent any cross-contamination.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the date of production, ensuring optimal performance.
4. Membrane rolls should be stored vertically during transportation and be protected from sunlight and rain to avoid any damage.
