Bitumen, often referred to as asphalt, is a thick, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. It is prized for its excellent waterproofing properties and is extensively used in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes serve as an ideal solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and other constructions. There are two primary application methods for bitumen membranes.
The first method is Torch-on, and the second is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes present an efficient, straightforward solution suitable for any season. Once installed, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a thin, yet robust, watertight layer that bonds seamlessly to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are extensively utilized across various building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects, catering to both exposed and concealed areas. Applications include flat and slope roofs, underground installations, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, and reservoirs, among others.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and free from all contaminants, while being appropriately prepared.
It is crucial to remove all dust and loose friable materials.
Any blow holes and voids should be fully exposed and properly repaired.
2. Primer:
Prior to membrane application, apply a primer coat. Use a dust catcher or blower to cleanse the substrate of dust, followed by a comprehensive treatment with a waterproofing primer to consolidate dust and enhance adhesiveness.
3. Membrane placement:
* Unroll the torch-on membrane and align it precisely before torching or bonding.
* Each membrane must be laid parallel and staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent joints from coinciding.
* End-to-end overlaps should always alternate and should never be placed along a single line.
* Begin installation at the lowest slope height, near drains, downpipes, or other details.
* When torching the rolls, apply heat to both the membrane and the substrate, focusing on the roll and the overlapping sections.
* Overlaps must be meticulously welded until a thin bead of melted material, about 1 cm wide, is visible along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring it adheres securely.


Attention:
1. The substrate must be dry and clean. Avoid working in rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Refrain from working in strong winds (beyond force 5).
3. Construction is not suitable at temperatures below 5°C.
4. Should rain or snow occur during construction, it is imperative to protect the already laid membrane.
5. Workers must wear protective uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is essential.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated conditions.
2. Different membrane types should be stored separately.
3. Under normal conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored vertically and protected from sunlight and rain.
