Bitumen, also known as asphalt, is a sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Celebrated for its unparalleled waterproofing qualities, it is extensively utilized in the construction industry. Bituminous membranes provide an exceptional solution for waterproofing roofs, basements, below-ground structures, bridges, and various other infrastructures. There are two primary application methods for bitumen membranes.
One is the Torch-on method, and the other is the Self-adhesive approach.
Torch-on bituminous membranes are a highly effective, easy-to-use product suitable for all seasons. Once applied, CHENHUA bituminous membranes form a thin, watertight barrier that is fully bonded to the surface, ensuring complete protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are expertly applied across a wide range of building waterproofing and seepage-proofing projects. They are ideal for both exposed and unexposed areas, including flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground structures, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, and reservoirs.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and devoid of any contaminants, prepared to perfection.
Every speck of dust and loose friable material must be meticulously removed.
Blow holes and voids must be fully exposed and expertly repaired.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer before laying the membrane. Thoroughly cleanse the substrate using a dust catcher or blower, then apply the primer entirely for enhanced dust consolidation and superior adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Unroll the torch-on membrane and carefully align it before proceeding with torching or bonding.
*Each membrane must be laid in parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to prevent coinciding joints.
*End-to-end overlaps must always be alternate, never aligned along a single line.
*Commence installation from the lowest slope height and around drains, downpipes, or other intricate details.
*The torching process must heat the membrane and substrate simultaneously, focusing on both the roll and overlap areas.
*Weld overlaps with precision until a thin trickle of melted bitumen, approximately 1 cm wide, emerges along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring a robust adhesion.


Attention:
1. Ensure the substrate is dry and clean. Construction should not proceed during rainy or snowy conditions.
2. Avoid working in strong winds (above grade 5).
3. Construction is unsuitable in temperatures below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during construction, protect the installed membrane with appropriate measures.
5. All workers must wear specialized protective gear and have fire control equipment readily available to ensure safety during installation.


Packing and shipping:
1. Ensure membranes are stored in dry, ventilated conditions for optimal preservation.
2. Different membrane types must be stored separately to maintain integrity.
3. Under typical conditions, the storage period is one year from the production date.
4. Transport membrane rolls vertically, safeguarding them from sunlight and rainwater exposure.

- SBS and APP are specialized modifiers used to enhance and tailor the performance of waterproof membranes. SBS modifier significantly boosts the cold resistance, making it ideal for application in chilly environments. On the other hand, APP modifier enhances the hot resistance, perfect for warmer climates. Despite these functional differences, their appearances are quite similar.
