Bitumen, commonly known as asphalt, is a rich, dark, and exceptionally thick liquid or semi-solid derived from petroleum. Renowned for its extraordinary waterproofing characteristics, bitumen is a staple in the construction world. Bituminous membranes offer an optimal solution for waterproofing needs across a wide array of structures, including roofs, basements, underground facilities, bridges, and more. Two predominant techniques are employed in their application.
The techniques are: the Torch-on method and Self-adhesive method.
Torch-on bituminous membranes provide a flexible and uncomplicated answer for diverse weather conditions. When CHENHUA membranes are installed, they create a seamless, impervious shield that adheres robustly to the surface.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely adopted in a range of construction levels for waterproofing and seepage protection projects. They are suitable for both open and hidden locations, covering flat roofs, sloped roofs, tunnels, bridges, parking areas, reservoirs, and more, ensuring comprehensive protection.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Verify that the substrate is thoroughly clean, dry, and free of contaminants, achieving an impeccable preparation.
Eliminate all dust and loose, friable materials completely.
Expose any blowholes and voids for full repair.
2. Primer:
Before laying the membrane, apply primer. Use a blower or dust catcher for cleaning, then effectively cover with a treatment primer to ensure waterproofing, facilitating dust consolidation and improved adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Gently unroll and precisely align the torch-on membrane before starting torching or bonding.
*Lay each membrane parallel, ensuring a staggered placement by at least 1 meter to avoid joint overlap.
*Alternate end-to-end overlaps, avoiding a linear arrangement.
*Begin at the lowest gradient, addressing drains, downpipes, and other specific details first.
*During the torching process, evenly heat both the membrane and substrate, focusing on the rolling and overlapping zones.
*Ensure overlaps are meticulously welded, with a thin strip of molten mixture, about 1 cm in width, visible along the seam.
4.Use a roller to firmly press the membrane surface, ensuring secure and reliable adhesion.


Attention:
1. Confirm the substrate is dry and clean. Never work on rainy or snowy days.
2. Avoid working in strong winds exceeding grade 5.
3. Inappropriate for use in temperatures below 5°C.
4. During rain or snow, ensure the laid membrane is protected.
5. All installers must wear appropriate uniforms for safety, and fire control equipment is necessary.


Packing and shipping:
1. Store membranes in dry, well-ventilated surroundings.
2. Different membrane varieties should be stored separately.
3. Typically, the storage period is a year from the date of production.
4. During transport, membrane rolls should stand upright and be shielded from light and rain.
