Bitumen, an extraordinary material often known as asphalt, is a dense, dark, highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form extracted from petroleum. Renowned for its superb waterproofing characteristics, it is a cornerstone in the construction sector. Bituminous membranes offer excellent solutions for waterproofing roofs, basements, subterranean structures, bridges, and numerous other constructions. There are primarily two sophisticated application techniques for these bitumen membranes.
The first technique is the Torch-on method, while the other is Self-adhesive.
Torch-on bituminous membranes provide a versatile and uncomplicated solution suitable for a wide range of weather conditions. When CHENHUA membranes are installed, they create a seamless, watertight barrier that adheres securely to the surface, ensuring ultimate protection.

Torch Down Bitumen Waterproof Membranes are widely employed in various building applications for comprehensive waterproofing and seepage-proofing. They are suitable for both visible and concealed areas such as flat roofs, sloped roofs, underground spaces, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, reservoirs, and more.

Application method:
1. Substrate:
Ensure the substrate is impeccably clean, dry, and devoid of all contaminants, prepared to absolute perfection.
Thoroughly remove all dust and loose, friable materials.
Expose and repair all blowholes and voids completely.
2. Primer:
Apply a primer before laying the membrane. Clean the substrate meticulously with a dust catcher or blower, then coat it thoroughly with a treatment primer to ensure effective waterproofing, enhancing dust consolidation and adhesion.
3. Membrane placement:
*Carefully unroll the torch-on membrane, aligning it with precision before commencing torching or bonding.
*Lay each membrane parallel, staggered by at least 1 meter to avoid overlapping joints.
*Alternate end-to-end overlaps to prevent alignment on a single line.
*Begin at the lowest slope height, focusing on drains, downpipes, or other specific details.
*Simultaneously heat both the membrane and substrate during torching, with particular focus on roll and overlapping areas.
*Weld overlaps with utmost precision, ensuring a thin trickle of melted mixture, about 1 cm wide, along the overlap line.
4.Use a roller to press the membrane surface firmly, ensuring secure adhesion throughout.


Attention:
1. The substrate must be dry and clean. Avoid installation on rainy or snowy days.
2. Do not proceed with work during strong winds (above grade 5).
3. Not suitable for construction in temperatures below 5°C.
4. If rain or snow occurs during the construction process, it is crucial to take protective measures for the laid membrane.
5. All personnel must wear specialized uniforms for safety during installation. Fire control equipment is a necessity.


Packing and shipping:
1. Membranes should be stored in dry, well-ventilated environments.
2. Different types of membranes must be kept separately to avoid mixing.
3. Under optimal conditions, the storage period extends up to one year from the date of production.
4. During transportation, membrane rolls should be stored vertically and shielded from direct sunlight and rain.
